Is it ok to use the display driver from Nvidia site for my FX 3800M? Or I just use the one from Dell.? My problem is with the latest Dell display driver, I'm getting a screen blackout whenever I use Revit. And theres no latest driver for FX 3800M from Dell. The latest is from Nvidia site. Anybody used the driver from Nvidia site?

No. SetFSB (with maybe a very few exceptions) cannot overclock a Core i processor.

So no Dell M6500 yet, due to snow/ice on the roads for the past 3 days in Texas Fedex has not yet delivered. Today they will attempt delivery, but there is snow again so more then likely fedex will not deliver.

I placed an order for a new Dell M6500 on Jan. 4th and I received it this past Monday, Jan 31st. 740QM, 4GB RAM, ATI Firepro M7820. So far nothing but good things from this machine. I love the design, it's very fast, sleek & sexy! I really didn't expect it to be as heavy but I don't mind tugging it around. My girlfriend laughed at me because I wouldn't leave it in the car and carried it with me into Nordstroms Rack while trying on clothes in the fitting room. I'll be damned if I leave this thing in the car!

Now I am in the process of purchasing a notebook cooler for this thing, something I can carry with me, any suggestions?

just got my first bsod today.

yesterday i installed a new ocz vertex 2 as main boot drive and put the old 500gb hdd in the 2nd slot as data drive. i also reinstalled windows fresh from the disc it came with with i purchased. dell forgot to send me the drivers disc so i only had basic drivers. (called and they are sending it) i went to dell m6500 support page and downloaded drivers for the firepro m7820. from this page Drivers & Downloads

windows was working fine, it downloaded and installed about 50 updates for windows. majority of them were "security update for windows 7 for x64-based systems", i thought it was fine.

so i was browsing facebook, i pressed play on a video from ufc status update and the screen went blank and then came back. i pressed play again and the screen went blank again and then there was the bsod, and the computer restarted. i went back to facebook again and pressed play on the video again and now it's playing fine.

can someone help me diagnose what the problem might be? not up to date drivers?

Good luck trying to figure out what's causing this problem. It's been ongoing for months (almost a year) and Dell has not officially acknowledged it. You can read more about it here.

I don't have the freezing problem but I have BSOD very often (around one time per day). I think it's an issue from the bios. :(
