    Get the M6500!

Please stop spreading this undifferentiated statement over and over again! Sure, the RGBLED is superior in certain aspects. This is why you pay more for it. But the way it is usually posed in this thread suggests, that the WLED is bad in some way, which is just not true. Sure it doesn't have the color accuracy of the RGBLED, but it isn't designed to have it.
There may be pros for the RGBLED, but these don't qualify as cons against the WLED since they are highly dependent on the task you do.

Does someone know where this restriction comes from? Is it the BIOS or some special Windows software (maybe the driver for the disc controller)?
Or to ask differently: If I as a Linuxer will get a mini-SSD, will I have to put my HDDs in RAID too to get it running?

The same here. The Targus backpack is just perfect for the M6500. (Apart from the weight) it's very comfortable and the M6500 fits well in it.
And something I appreciate a lot is, that it's pretty understated. It doesn't say: "Look at me! I've got a cool big expensive Laptop with me."
Someone who doesn't know this backpack won't know that you carry 2000€+ on your back.

Full ack - I am totally pleased with my 1920*1200 WLED. Doing (almost) only dev stuff on this machine. Taking and looking at my photos or videos just for pleasure and the colors I get and see are the best I had compared to all displays I had before. A bit bluish cold in the default but easily correctable with Windows 7 color management. Add a bit of red, reduce a bit of blue, use the saved display money to buy an SSD and happy I am :D

Just an FYI on the Targus backpack I use. They last about 18 months when you don't care about taking care of them. I am on my second one. The first one still works fine, it was just starting to look at a little ratty in places from the wear. They are light and have a ton of space - much more than you would think. They are fairly rain proof for 10 minutes or so. If you only have the M6500 in it, the backpack is MUCH flatter than the pics make it look.

Debguy - I agree with you that it does not look like a computer backpack except for the Targus logo. I black out the targus logo with a sharpie.

    Hey Speedy,

Could you provide a brief tutorial? I'm trying to overclock the 920XM, but the multiplier adjustment will not go any higher than x16. Thanks.

The main reason that Dell does not offer the dual core systems with 4 memory slots is because they don't support 4 memory slots, 2 max. The quad cores are the only ones that support 4 memory slots. If dual cores were offered with a 4 memory slot motherboard people would try to load memory in all 4 slots and this would cause issues because it wouldn't work. Now I guess I could come up with a cover to put over the extra 2 slots that way if someone wanted to upgrade later they could. Let me think about it.

Can you please provide other sources than "Dell says so"?
There are two reasons why I think this is wrong.
1st: electrosoft has proven the opposite:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...-m6500-discussion-thread-457.html#post6631006
2nd: When you say "quad core" vs. "dual core" you surely refer to Clarksfield vs Arrandale. Both are derivatives of the Lynnfield architechture, which implements two dual channel memory banks resulting in four available memory slots.

So please tell us why Dell thinks Arrandales are incompatible with 4-DIMM setups!

Ok, first, all electrosoft did was put an Arrandale dual core cpu on a motherboard with 4 DIMM slots. I didn't say that wouldn't work. It will work. The issue is that the Arrandale CPU's will only recognize 2 of the 4 DIMM slots. This is not Dell saying so, this is Intel saying so. Go ask them yourself. Why do you think that every manufacture has this same limitation? Not because we want to, this limitation makes my life very difficult. I wish the Arrandale CPU's supported 4 memory slots but they don't.
