So after diggin around on here and the nets...was wondering...are the touchpad issues (non-responsive, weight on x side causes y side to not work, etc) real or just isolated incidents?

I have had very little issue with my touchpad. I had an M4400 which had a TERRIBLE touchpad, but this one is very nice. If I am connected in a specific place in my house and my arm is touching the radiator the touchpad has been a little jittery a few times, but that is a rare occurrence.

    My two cents anyway :)

First of all, thanks everyone whoever helped installing second hard drive which I was able with no issue. Now I am planning to install another 4 GB RAM in My M6500, A & B slots..

I already have 4 GB, 1600 installed on C,D slots ( slots which are just back of the cover). I am now wondering how to install?

I have read somewhere in the thread , keyboard cover has to be removed in order to install RAM in another two slots.

Anyone tried this? How easy to install? Anyone know some easy steps to follow?

Another question - Can I just move my RAM from upper two slots to the bottom ones ( somewhere behind keyboard). Is there any issue doing that?

    Thanks

I never had any problems with it. So either it's a Windows-only problem or a rare hardware issue.

    @justyle:
You'll find all you need for replacing your RAM and many other parts here (I suggest to bookmark this link):
    Documentation
Unclipping the hinge cover is a bit tricky, since it sits very tight. But if you follow the instrucions and use some gentle force it'll work. The rest ist straight forward.
You can put your modules in C&D to A&B, but you should know that the laptop will only work if C&D are occupied. When my main board was replaced I asked the technician to put my (by then only two) modules to A&B so that I wouldn't have to remove the keyboard again once my additional modules would arrive. Unfortunately this didn't work and we only got some LED-flashes and beeps indicating that no RAM was found when starting the machine. After calling his HQ he told me that C&D can't be left empty.

I need to have mine replaced. It's horrible. The odd part is it seems to have something to do with pressure on the left side of the palm rest. The left side of the pad becomes wacky/unresponsive after while. Reason I say that is because things work fine when I start using it in the morning and seem to degrade after awhile. I found that there was a vertical "hump" that was barely noticeable until I really looked for it.

Bottom line is no, it has nothing to do with drivers or software. It's a poor hardware implementation.

If only there were a way to transplant the macbook pro's touchpad in these things... this ALPS/Synaptics crap that Dell's been using for a decade is garbage. Sadly the worst thing about their portables in my opinion.

    No problems at all.

The synaptics pads I had in my Dells where all good (one time ALPS which I liked less) and finally the middle mouse button was added, good for opening URLs in new tabs.

From the gestures I only use two finger scrolling and that works great.

Left side is set to zooming, right side and bottom to scrolling.
