Anyone used anything PhysX enabled with the 3800 card? I tried dloading some of nvidia's own demos that support it after installing the previous verde 257.15 drivers, but they all failed with various errors. The nvidia control panel attributes allow for configuration of card or cpu physx support, and the driver did come up as having the physx libraries installed.

Will try again with these new drivers.

I found that I had to install the PhysX software separately, your system information window should look like the one posted, if not PhysX is not installed. Also, I use FluidMark to verify PhysX is working properly.

Here's a screenshot of fluidmark working with the 3800M, if you look closely, you will see the physx-gpu indicator in the background.

This is an interesting question. I was wondering what will happen if bios is set to RAID with an additionnal HDD in this bay. Moreover, are the sata performances the same on this slot? By the way I read the entire topic and I drunk each time I read ACHI instead of AHCI. Cheers guys!

I tried FluidMark with 257.29 and 257.21 drivers and it worked for both. So there is no reason it should not work for you.

Any news? I bought M6500 before USB 3.0 was available so I would be very happy if that could be done...

My intel X25m G2 160gb won't work that way for some reason....I installed the SSD in drive bay 2, and the 500 gig spindle drive in the Drive 1....now I've got the OS installed as drive C: on the SSD, and my 500 gig platter as drive D: with AHCI enabled in the BIOS. All is well and it's fast, very fast...my WEI score went from 5.9 to 7.7.

Interesting. Looks like just using the nvidia installer didn't actually put the right drivers in place in the OS. Had to manually update the driver via device manager pointing it to the directory that was produced from the installer. Also had to manually install the physx module as you suggested. Everything seems to be in place now.

    Thanks.

If I were to buy this laptop with only a single drive, does it include the hardware (connectors, tray, etc.) for the second drive, or will I have to buy that separately from Dell? Trying to figure out a way to save a little money on the purchase of this laptop.

    Thanks!

BTW, I did search this thread but at 415 pages it is a bit unwieldy.

Some did get it, others didn't. So it is a bit of a risk.

Concerning the inclusion of hardware to mount the second hard drive if it wasn't added during build...

So, is it cheaper to buy the mounting hardware from Dell or to buy the overpriced second hard drive and have them put it in during build?

Way I see it, if the little bracket and screws are missing from the unit you buy, Dell owes you one. I'd call support.

Memory and storage are the two things I'd recommend upgrading outside of their own configuration page. The markup for these items is exceptionally high from them, and even with their own discounts in place are still significantly higher than what you can get those same things for online.
