    Super gradx! Thanks :D

    Keep 'em coming :)

I can tell you that a stock M6400 with FX3700M gives you around 11,231 stock in 3d mark 06 and FX2700M (not stock though) gives around 9,824 score.

The WEI scores though are not that wild - I would have hoped for the 'graphics' to be just a tad higher, since it is the most powerfull card on the mobile marked.

But gradx keep the stuff coming - if you have the time that is :)

And for those who are getting M6500's soon - benchies please :)

I'm hoping to see someone posting some scores with the best equipped M6500 - would be nice to see what sets the flag :)

I just ran 3DMark06 twice more with no tweaks and scored 13056 and 13046.

    The 13046 had these results:
    SM 2.0 - 6009
    SM 3.0 - 5813
    CPU - 3136

"Talking about DELL in the UK"

    Hi,

How do you order i7 920 processors ? It doesn't give me such option on the website (all it shows in processor option is "Mobile Precision M6500 Silver Base") so I called dell sales team to find out which processor is there, and on the website it shows "Up to Intel® CoreTM i7- 920XM Quad Core Extreme processors" so i thought it might be as the only option and goes as standard), they told me that m6500 is only available with i7 820 (1.73hz) and the machine is upgradable to i7 920. heh ? seems like scam :)

Meantime I can't choose 2 HDD with 500GB, as primary only ATA and secondary is only SATA.

P.S. Sales team is very bad, asked me 2-3 times for everything, like they don't listen to my answers, and repeat their question again and again.

Told them, i am interested in m6500 precision laptop and have few questions, and what do you think she asks me ? "Ok, that's good, so what machine are you interested in" OMG!!!

You might also get the newest drivers from the Nvidia website. The Dell drivers usually run a little behind on the version numbers.

Thanks again for confirming that to be any faster in gaming, you would have to go with an sli solution.

Thats not to good on the RAM front.

I've just ordered the M6500 and my current HP envy with core i7 720, 6gb DDR3 and ATI 4830 and single 7200rpm driver gets

    Processor: 6.9
    Memory: 7.3 ?
    Graphics: 6.7
    Gaming Graphics: 6.7
    Hard Disk: 5.9

I appreciate that windows performance index is about as bad as it gets benchmark wise but why such a huge difference?

For anyone who's interested I had the ETA on my UK M6500 build

    Order date: 22/12/2009
    Estimate delivery date: 22/01/2009

<sarcasm> Must be a complicated machine to build to take a month</sarcasm>

I'd be interested in learning more about the reasons for the "not too good" memory performance. I ordered 8.0GB DDR3-1333MHz RAM with my m6500, assuming that Dell would at least specify their workstation class machine with decent RAM. If this is not the case, I will modify my order to buy the minimum RAM from Dell and then replace with 1333MHz Hyper X RAM from Kingston (which has a CAS latency of 7, has been well reviewed, and would cost me about $160 less). Can anyone verify the specs of the 1333MHz RAM shipping with the m6500? Any recommendations on modifying my order to replace the Dell RAM with Kingston RAM?

    Thanks for your advice,

    Keith

Upgrading the memory yourself usually will save you money. However, higher clocked and lowed latency memory is a marketing gimmick and will not yield any performance benefit in any real world application.

Today I was told because of the shortage RGB LED screen and ATI card in UK, it probably takes a month until 29 of Jan.
I think dell should make amends on that.
