Mine came with a Liteon l8h-256v2g-41. Feature-wise, it's fine. It supports Opal 2.0 and such. Performance is not great, though.
In light of the above, I think that might be a good idea, depending on what Dell sells in your particular market. (I'm in Germany, and available drive options seem to differ substantially from what's available through Dell USA.)

    OK. That's confusing.

    Thank you for the info.

Now its' not clear to me anymore which hard-drive/SSD-option I should take. I thought a M2-PCIe would/could clearly be better, at least if installing a good one.
As Dell's doesn't offer the PCIe-option yet in my country, I thought of ordering it ith the lowest-level/smallest/cheapest 2,5"-drive and buying a good M8-PCIe-SSD separately. So now it's not clear if that would be a noticeable upgrade performance/heat/battery-wise (compared to a 2,5" or M8 SATA-SSD)!?

Additionally, looking at the 'Owner's Manual', it's not clear to me if I could easily install such a M2-PCIe-SSD afterwards if the laptop didn't have such type of SSD when shipped, because it seems to require some small cover to connect to the M2-PCIe-SSD that is not required for (and thus probably not shipped with?) the M2-SATA-SSD, I don't know why. Does someone knows more about that?

I'd be curious to see the SATA cable. Looking at the photos, I think one might be able to get two SSDs in there -- one on the actual M.2 slot, and one (SATA) M.2 or mSATA card hanging off the actual SATA cable with an adapter (e.g. http://www.altex.com/StarTechcom-Micro-SATA-to-SATA-Cable-Adapter-MCSATAADAP-P150114.aspx )

Might or might not be room, and you'd need to improvise some kind of attachment for the 2nd card, but it would be interesting to try.

I'm also rather curious if they're going to start offering it with a WWAN card, since the section is there (just with no option to select it) and how soon someone will stick 32GB in there even though it's technically unsupported.

eta: checked premier -- they are orderable with WWAN (DW5811e, for AT&T; generic was showing up a couple days ago but isn't showing now.)

So two storage devices (2.5" + M.2) is a no-go on this model?
I currently have the Latitude E5440 where I've swapped out the optical storage bay for a 2.5" bay, giving me 3 available storage locations: 2 x 2.5" + msata slot. Going back to only one storage device is not very tempting.

Are the any rumours or info about the Latitudes coming with Iris graphics? Intel Core i5 6260U would be a nice option.

That looks to be the case. (Ignoring the totally unsupported possibility of using some kind of standard to M.2 cable converter to jam two M.2 drives in there.

Haven't seen any definite word about the T460p about whether it's 2.5" + m.2 or 2.5 /or/ m.2, and the spec sheet is unclear:

Haven't heard anything. I'd really like to be able to get one of these with the (not yet announced, but semi-confirmed) GT4e i7 -- the NUC with one of those is out sometime in Q1. OTOH, I'm losing patience with my M3800, so I may not wait.

    Hi!,

Are there any more people with experiences to share about the e5470?
Especially regarding battery life and build quality?

Dell is having a hard time ordering it for the moment in my country (and won't probably be able to order one with a PCIe-SSD), so I'm starting to look away to other options (e.g. e7450 or XPS13 notwithstanding the lower CPU) but would rather prefer to know if it's worth waiting for some extra week.
Is the build quality up to that of e.g. the e7450?
(I used to have a e6410 and wouldn't want to go to a lower build quality and considering 5xxx < 6xxxx, numerically at last ;-) , I start wondering if the e5470 wouldn't be a step down regarding build quality etc... )

If you're looking at one of the ultrabook Latitudes, I'd look at the 7470 rather than the E7450. The 5470/5570 is an entirely new chassis design, and the numbering is just Dell's new standard -- the 6000 series is gone. If you're concerned about the build quality, I think the best approach would be to wait for someone to post a detailed review.

I'm waiting on pricing on the T460p before ordering the 5470, but am leaning towards ordering the 5470. I'll report back in once I've got one (or the other.)

I meant the e7470, but mistyped '7450'. Sorry!
I didn't know the 6000-series was gone. Is that official? There are still models listed online, but indeed no new models.
For the form-factor, I prefer the E7470 (thinner and lighter), but it can 'only' go up to a i7-6600U while I can get the E5470 with a i7-6820HQ (sadly enough none of them with 32GB RAM).
I don't really see other real differences between these models, thus it's portability vs power. I just hope the battery life on the E5470 will be good.

The real problem is I can't wait much longer, as I urgently need the laptop for work (I already had to hand in my previous laptop). Well, I guess I'll go with the e5470, hope for the best and report back here too. :)

I haven't heard anything official, but I've unofficially heard from someone that I know who works closely with Dell at a VAR that all of their lines were going to the 3000/5000/7000 series naming scheme [and it looks like they've now all done just that], so it suggests that quite strongly. Specs-wise, the 5470 and 5570 are much closer to the old 6000-series; it's a whole new chassis, so quality-wise, who knows?

Anything with two DIMM sockets on Skylake should be able to go to 32GB of RAM whether or not Dell officially supports it unless they've taken active steps in the BIOS or motherboard design to subvert that. If I get the 5470 (which seems likely), it'll be with minimum RAM and ordering 32GB separately -- I'll report back, but the machine is going back to Dell if 32GB doesn't work -- the RAM limit is the biggest reason my M3800 is getting retired (although poor battery life, and relatively poor construction don't help.)

Please do! I'm hoping final pricing on the T460p will be out this week, and unless it's compelling (or someone comes up with evidence sometime soon that there will be a refresh in the next two months with Thunderbolt and/or an Iris Pro CPY), will be ordering the 5470 myself.

I just bought an e5470 ( pending delivery) with I5 6300U and intel 520 + 8GB + m2 2280 128GB drive and another 8GB module to bring to 16GB. Thinkpads have better keyboards but displays don't seem so good based on reviews and they are so expensive...
I'm still not convinced about the end key being on Fn.. so I will have to try if I can adapt.. I only use Linux so I'll post how it went... looks like 14.04 is supported minus some problems with mic and hibernation based on Ubuntu page.
I wonder about heat and noise tho.. That's my main concern, has anyone tried to compile or do any heavy duty and measure temperature on similar config? Is the fan running often/noisy?
