Today I received a notice from Dell that my order would be delayed again for the 4th time and action from me is required or they would be forced to cancel my order due to the Federal Trade Commission.

I was curious if any of you have received your M4800 with the QHD+ screen yet.
If you have received yours please respond with the day you ordered it and the day you received it.

Also any other advice you can offer while I am dealing with this matter would be greatly appreciated. I have called them many times and talked with 8 different customer service reps and customer service supervisors.

Dell supervisor called me back tonight.

Apparently there is a shortage of the LCD panel and that's what we are waiting on. I told her that a few members of this community had already received theirs with the QHD+ panel and her response was that of doubt. She said that she highly doubted that and wanted to know the order numbers of those that had been delivered. So it sounds to me like no one has gotten them yet.

She also indicated that she would not be surprised if it were to be delayed, again, beyond the updated estimated delivery date of 10/24/2013.

At first I was really upset with dell...but now I feel kind of bad for them. If they are waiting on the panels and have been unable to fill any orders then I bet there are a lot of unhappy customers waiting on their laptops. It's unfortunate that they are still waiting on the panels and I bet there are many people that are not very understanding.

Now that I finally know what the wait is for I feel much better. I have decided to continue waiting as opposed to canceling my order and will keep you updated whenever I hear something new from them. My rep said she would contact me Monday and give me an update. A+++ customer service from Dell.

    Cheers for now!

I am having the same issue. I was able to get my shipping upgraded to next day for free, but I am still pretty annoyed since I don't have a functioning laptop at the moment. I'm going to see if I can get a discount, because this delay is kind of ridiculous. They must have a contract with the supplier - typically there's a hefty fee for late delivery, so I want Dell to pass that on to me.

I'm kind of tempted to ask the CC company to put a hold on the funds for 2-3 weeks and then finally pay Dell, just to make things even.

They upgraded my shipping for free as well. As far as a discount goes, they wouldn't budge on mine. I asked for, in this order, one at the time: money off, free upgrade to the next model, Processor upgrade, Video Card upgrade, SSD upgrade, and finally ram upgrade. To which their response was no. I think their margin is so low on these machines they simply can't afford to do anything. I didn't really press the issue and was nice about it so take it for what it's worth.

You may like to know that I ordered mine on Sept. 13 and they have not billed me yet.

Please post back here and let us know how asking for a discount worked out for you!

    Cheers!

Previous threads as long as September are showing long waits in these...

    Just curious any Australian quotes for this config? Dell aus want to quote me 1100 for an upgrade from 16-32gb... Outing the specs I asked for at around 4800 for;

    QHD screen
    4900 i7
    2100 quadro
    32Gb

$3700 for 16Gb config. It seems like not much room at all from dell. 8-16gb was a $100 jump, 1100 for another 16Gb is crazy.... Anyone have a rep quoting better than this??? Or is this the expected price? Just looking for a fair trade.

I would configure the machine with 16gb and upgrade later to 32 . Dell overcharges for certain configurations like maxed out RAM. Also why don't you consider the AMD video card? Nvidias are much more expensive, at least it was when I purchased my M4700, yet performance is the same. Both have switching graphics to save battery life, so I would prefer the M5100 unless I need to work with CUDA or something like that.

I'm still pushing for the discount - they're being kind of cagey about it and saying we can discuss that when it ships. I was able to get them to upgrade/extend my warranty, which is a nice start.

As far as the delays, they're claiming it's an unforeseen issue with the "new platform" that they think they have resolved. Apparently there was some kind of part # change, so they asked to cancel my order and place it again, so now my estimated ship date is another two weeks away. I'm told they're monitoring and expediting my order, but the two weeks doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

I'm hearing the same stuff, on my 6800. Not even sure if I want it anymore.
