It seems like only the XP Link is A06.

The Vista Links is still A05.

Anyone download A06 and install for Vista?

BTW. The Advanced button is the one with the cog wheels to the left of the other options.

OK. it looks like my installation is corrupted. I'll try uninstalling instead of overwriting.

    **Update**

I tried uninstalling the driver but the IDT control panel didn't get uninstalled.

I then ran the Dell driver reset tool which ended in a reboot.

I then ran the IDT driver which ended by wanting a reboot (I didn't see that previously)

On rebooting it was situation normal with no bass through the external audio. However, I then disconnected / reconnected the speakers and the bass appeared.

Conclusion. One needs to plug in the speakers when the computer is running in order to trigger the port activity detection event. If the speakers are already plugged in when the computer is started then the detection doesn't work. That is the way I normally operate - plug the speakers in while plugging in everything else. The driver needs more work to check the current port status instead of switching in response to an event. In fact it half does this because, if I hibernate with external speakers connected, then disconnect the speakers and resume, I don't get bass through the external speakers.

Yes I only just realised that, and was revisiting this thread to admit to not noticing it before (bl**dy non-standard GUIs) only to see you'd pointed it out ... anyway, it does nothing when pressed.

My advanced button also does nothing when pressed. I also can't use a microhpone. I only have one option in the recording tab of the windows volumemanagement, and that one has nothing to do with the microphone. Does anyone else have this problem? I use Windows XP.

Not sure if it matters, but there seems to be a smidge newer version as R213366(Vista) and R213367(Vista). It's labelled the same -- A06 except the version number is 6.10.0.6159 vs the 6.10.0.6124 that was linked in the first post.

Find it here for Vista : http://support.us.dell.com/support/...eid=R213366&formatcnt=2&libid=0&fileid=301563

    Find it here for XP : http://support.dell.com/support/dow...-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=2&libid=3&fileid=301564 (It' says 5. instead of 6. -- I'm guessing it's a typo.)

I've got a question: Is the driver supposed to be able to auto adjust the volume when you plug in headphones? A volume level which is acceptable on the speakers is deafening on my headphones, so it would be nice if it did that, but it doesn't seem to be working. The software is of course, recognizing that it is plugged in, but puts it under the same device as the speakers, thus having the same volume setting.
