I find the E6400 build quality great.

I haven't noticed any keyboard flex when typing. It will move a little bit if you mash down on the keyboard with your fist though I'm sure.

You will get proper reinstallation disks. A fresh Windows disk, plus driver and application disks.

I don't believe that it is spill resistant. I could be wrong though.

I've never used a T400 so I can't comment. From what I have read there isn't much of a difference in quality between the two.

The difference in the memory will not be noticable. If you want to upgrade the memory it will cost a lot less on the E6400.

As far as graphics I'm not sure, I use the Intel graphics since I want battery life and I don't need graphics performance.

A friend of mine owns a T40 and a T60. He claims the T400 is a step down in build quality. I've played with some of the new Thinkpads at my college computer store and while there's really little to dislike, I don't think they feel any more solid than the current E6400/E6500 lineup. If anything they seem "softer" due to the use of semi-rubberized plastic, though that same plastic does seem to make them more wear-resistant.

I do think that the Thinkpad keyboard is still a bit better than the Dell keyboard in feedback and all. Of course, my keyboard of choice is the Model M, so I may be a bit biased here. The TP keyboard also resists oil better. But then the Latitudes have that whole backlit thing going on and I think backlighting is a better feature.

I like the whole switchable graphics thing with the Thinkpads. I don't know why Dell didn't decide to implement such a thing on the E6400/E6500. I'm not sure about the actual tangible benefits of the feature, but I like the concept nonetheless.

I could go on, but my two cents there.

And yes, a 5400RPM drive will eat less power than a 7200RPM drive. But an SSD is even better :)

Check ups or dhl. If you don't have any corporate rate then it will most likely be more then 300$.
