I have Dell D630 and planning to upgrade the HDD and Processor.
What is the maximum capacity for HDD and Processor?
And what type of processor should I buy?
    My processor is Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T7500 @ 2.20GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz

    Thank you

You can go up to the T9500 as far as CPUs go. The very slightly slower T9300 is a much, much better value, though. I don't know if you can use the X9000; it might be possible.

You can use any 2.5" SATA hard drive. The highest capacity mechanical drive is current 1TB, but I'd recommend getting an SSD instead.

As Commander Wolf pointed out, the T9300 is the best bet without spending an arm and a leg, though a T8300 is a good value, around 30-35 on eBay.

I believe there is a 1 TB Samsung and Western Digital Scorpio Blue that will work, though I recommend an SSD.

If you have an NVIDIA GPU then I wouldn't put another dime into the D630. I have an Intel-GPU based T9300 with 8GB DDR-2, SSD and a 750GB HDD in the optical drive bay and it is still doing great. I had to replace the NVIDIA Mobo a few years back and don't regret going with Intel...

Yes, it only works in one socket... the one in the D630.

    This.

I meant to edit this into my first post, but I forgot.

The T8300 barely gets you anything over the T7500. A SSD is a pretty no-risk upgrade. You can fit 8gb of RAM (ie: 2 x 4gb), but the parts are typically very expensive.

The screen can be replaced with a LED backlit variety for extra battery life, and there's a vendor or two out there with an aftermarket 12-cell battery which should extend life even further. Other than that, its a five-year-old laptop -- time to let it sail into the sunset and pick up something a bit newer.

T8300 gets you Penryn, runs much cooler, and you get the extra instruction set, and a T8300 is like 30 bucks on eBay. T9300 yields you 6 MB cache and slightly faster speeds for around 60 dollars.

Yes, T9300 will work. Make sure you have the latest BIOS.
