Is there a release date for the 7710 yet?

Thanks. For some reason it has been kindof rare to find this type of coverage from the manufacturers. Apple for example doesn't offer it. And I'm not sure but I think this is pretty new for Lenovo and HP (if HP has it). I don't remember how recently I checked for it but was within the past year. Or maybe I didn't know how to find this info for those online websites. Good to know as this creates more choices for me.

HP had it before DELL actually, and this is the first time Lenovo has offered it. Remains to be seen of they can actually honor it as there are very few Lenovo certified service centers. Most likely they have partnered with places like Geek Squad and the like for service.

Thank you. Looking at HP website I see now they have accidental (3yr) and also On Site (up to 4 yr) and NBD Exchange (doesn't mention repairs for NBD, and is 1yr). included in the sale price is 3yr labor, 3 yr parts, 3 yr onsite... and then if willing we could add accidental coverage on top. I'm certain I don't fully understand their coverage options and the #yrs could probably be adjusted based on willingness of customer to pay. But is nice to know it is not like an Apple warranty where you'd have to send in the laptop and wait a week or more for repairs before the give it back.

Yeah I imagine HP and Lenovo would be like Dell and partner with local techs who actually perform onsite repair. But geek squad? That's what I see at Best Buy retail stores? oh please no * edit: I've never actually used their repair services. The geek squad may not be that bad. Whoever the local repair companies are that partner with the mfr should be certified and familiar with what they are repairing.

I don't believe it has been announced but suspecting by end of October we will know, if not released by then. The user named "bokeh" mentioned in another thread that he/she is in posession of a couple 5510 machines from a recent Dell Conference visit. bokeh has connections to good Dell people and will try to ask when these new precisions become available. Suggest follow bokeh's thread

Have not heard anything yet on release dates. I was able to see the Xeon and i7 5510s at the conference. Was able to borrow the Xeon one for a few days.

The 7710 is the one I am most interested in too.

    Okay, thanks.

Well folks, I guess we all may want to let this "m6900" thread die out, considering it is no longer speculation about the hardware and also the new naming of the machines. I'm going to focus more on the other recent new precision threads I'm seeing crop up.

AFAIK, there's no 7710 specific thread yet...

Pity, since that would have been my primary reasons to upgrade. At this point the true innovation in laptop design rest with its upgradeablilty. Desktops moved in that direction a long time ago. For todays's modern laptops, its long past due.

Not quite yet. Although Apple/Mac would like you to believe that it is. Especially since they have invested so heavily, and stand to gain substantially in streaming. In another month or so, UHD (4K) blu-ray will hit the stores.
