I see what you're saying about the connector hanging low...I think that's why the m7710 display bezel has a larger lower section.

Is that absolutely necessary? I never disassembled a Precision's lid, but on this Sony the plastic bezel was enough to hold the screen (although, this was how the original screen was held, too). Could perhaps the same be possible here, along with e.g. some double sided scotch tape or something to secure the LCD to the lid?

That would work if you had some really strong double sided tape, and managed align the screen correctly. I personally wouldn't trust the bezel to hold the screen securely though, given how flexible it is.

3M VHB (very high bond) double sided tape could be used to hold the LCD to the back of the LCD housing.

Does any one have pictures of where the eDP port is on an M6800??? I've only seen the 40 LVDS connector.

    Hi @epsilon72 and any others

since it's from 30 dec. 2015 I have problems with my M6700, after many interventions that make my M6700 worst than the first time I contacted Dell, they propose me to replace my M6700 for a M6800 a couple of days ago.

But I rejected the offer because of the monitor: my M6700 has 10bit IPS panel with 100% adobe RGB gamut.
While in M6800 that panel was discontinued. And M6800, like the 1080p of new 7710 panels, covers 72% adobe RGB gamut.

Since the replace needs to guarantee a product "like" the previous or, if something is missing, a better one.
And the IGZO 4k of 7710 is the only panel today where they declare 100% adobe RGB gamut.

I highlighted the above reasoning and I expect an answer I hope tomorrow.

Do you think they will accept my objection ?
    Any suggestion?

    Thanks
    ciao

Has anyone added the Dell webcam to a 6800? Can it be done?

From my research, it appears you need motherboard part # 98VVR to have an eDP port. Check this eBay auction to see where its located (indicated by eDP silkscreened on the board): http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Dell-Pr...143822?hash=item280ff0fe4e:g:-kYAAOSw14xWJAIq

Earlier in this thread, somebody said that early M6800s had eDP adapter boards...? I cant seem to find any proof of their existence (like part numbers or even pictures).

Dell Part Number 75v7g is probably what they were referring to. It may only work with older m6800's, because the new ones have 30 pin eDP ports instead of ~50 (this board's input is about 50 pins, eDP - I can't tell the exact number from pictures but it is certainly more than 30)

I have this weird problem with my webcam. I just got a new touchscreen LCD with webcam and installation was a breeze. Initially the webcam was working fine, and I was able to confirm it is working with Windows 10 camera app.

However, after finishing an online game and returning back to Window 10, the webcam disappeared. Attempts to scan for hardware changes did not turn up anything. I tried the old trick of uninstalling the Generic USB Hub and scan for hardware changes; again nothing. I tried another trick of reinstalling the driver for Generic USB Hub but it did not work either. It's like the webcam has been permanently turned off.

Something similar happened to another screen, the webcam on that screen became an unknown USB device and never worked after that.

Oh btw, I'm using a GTX980m with a Nvidia HSF that's a bit different to the standard Nvidia HSF. Could that be the cause as the cable is going pass the copper heat pipes? Or maybe it is due to Windows 10? The temperature never exceeded 65 degree Celsius though...

Was previously on a K4100M with the standard Nvidia HSF on Windows 8.1. Everything was fine then.

Another here with Windows 10 and never have issue with their webcam?

Did you check the cable physically afterwards? Perhaps the heat damaged it during the gaming session.
