They're up the top next to F12, and just normal press, not Fn level

Thanks... anyone seen both the touch and non-touch screens... and if I plan not to use touch, is the non-touch the better option for quality?

I only ask this because the "ready to ship" model at $1,999 is what I am looking at. I will add an SSD and move the include hybrid drive to take care of backup. This model comes with the "touch screen". I can configure and order the one with a non-touch screen and use the difference for another 8GB RAM, which might be put to better use. The ship time is not as quick, but I am not in a big hurry either. Thanks!

Pardon the error... the $1,999 version does NOT come with the touch panel.

The touch screen is glossy if that makes any difference to you. I prefer a matte screen so I'm not willing to go for a touch screen just yet.

Glossy screens are nice for color, but in a place that has bright lights (or fluorescent overheads especially, it can get somewhat annoying and difficult to see. I was considering the use of a matte "screen protector" thing that would still allow for capacitance, but those can be kind of hit or miss as well.

I was looking for a 3M film but they only seem to make the anit-glare capacitive touch films for tablets ad phones.

Glossy doesn't really bother me, as I am mostly in a lower lighted room... use it more at night too.

However, I did have some serious issues with an M6400 I tried from Dell back in 2008. Had a terrible blue tint. It was a nightmare... 3 replacements and 5 screens to no avail. I had to dispute my credit card just to get my money back. I said I would never buy another Dell... yet I just pulled the trigger on an M6800.

I have a 128gb and a 256gb ssd, is it possible to partition the 256gb in half, and have a 128gb raid running? And then use the other half of the 256gb ssd just for storage? I feel like my m6800 has a lot of processing power, but when i go to just open chrome for example, there is a full second where nothing happens after i click, where as my old PC with ssd was instant...

When you are shopping for a 17" mobile workstation, swearing off Dell doesn't leave you with many options! I assume you had an HP between the M4600 and now?

the lag may have many causes, none of which would be cured by going raid, for which you ideally need two identical drives - if you want to avoid problems. lag could be caused by bloatware or other installed sw. do a clean install of win to see if it persists. or at least switch between ms ahci and intel rst drivers.

    or a Lenovo or a Fujitsu or a non-mobile WS :)
