I have a m6800 in the mail along with some upgrades. No service tag on eBay and I overpaid lol... Now I need an Nvidia K4100m x bracket and heatsink. Where can I source one in North America or Canada specifically?

Ended up finding a heatsink. Doubt it has an xbracket though

modified the bios on my k4100m in my m6800 i have the gpu at 1ghz stable my 4910qm has its turbo set to 4ghz and runs real stable :) my question is my display says its 40 pin. But i cannot tell if its edp or lvds. I know if i were to go pascal i would need to have optimus on which i would enable anyway so far its been an absolutely amazing laptop and runs circles around my msi gl62 with 960m and 6700hq in everything lol further more the reason i need to know how to see if its edp or lvds is if i want to swap screens to say something better or just in case the screen craps out . its a veeery bright and beautiful led

Use hwinfo64 or MonInfo to get the model number for your display panel, and then search online to see if you can tell which signal type it uses. (There aren't any panels that support both LVDS and eDP, AFAIK.)

I just ran into a problem with my expresscard reader. I have been using it for years with a 2-port firewire card for audio recording, I have 2 of these cards from different mfr's. Today it won't recognize either one. I ran the Dell diagnostics, but it doesn't test the expresscard slot.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can test to see if the problem is with the expresscard slot/motherboard or if it is with the expresscards?

    ----
False alarm. I took the whole computer apart and blew everything out with compressed air and put it all back together. Both cards now work. Maybe the expresscard ribbon cables weren't seated well.

I have been looking into getting an older 17" workstation like these precisions for couch coding and I see you mentioned the M6700 could accept a 4k screen internally. Could you give me more information on parts needed, mods, etc to do this?

    Basically, this thread :
    https://forum.51nb.com/thread-1804520-1-1.html
    (remove red parts)
Use 3d display lcd cable with part number "DC02C005200", have some luck to fit your screen, for exemple mine is larger than the LVDS screen but it does fit (more or less), Sharp screen should be easier to fit :)
    There is some of "know working" lcd : Innolux N173DSE-G31 (mine / 399.5mm large) , AUO B173ZAN01.0 (linked above / 398.1mm), Sharp LQ173D1JW31 (https://forum.51nb.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1820565 / 393.7mm)
it works better in UEFI, it works with Maxwell and Pascal card, Kepler card seems to have some issue, depend from card to card

Thank you so much for that information. I had no idea that had been pulled off before.

Found out it's a 40 pin lvds shame I had planned to put a p4000 in it but looks like I still can as long as Optimus is on . Further more im looking at getting 2133 ram from what I read the Kingston kit works ? One other odd question, before The bios mod I noticed that sometimes the Dell will refuses to boot . Lights will come in fans will spin then it will power cycle then boot up . Logs say power on not applicable . The longer I leave it off the more times it does that . Reminds me of a MacBook with bad tant caps when they are cold it refused to boot . Any idea what caused this ? When it's running it runs perfect

I tried 2133MHz ram on my M6800 when it was still working, and it got stuck at 1866MHz max, I think you need to change nvram value "by hand" to force 2133MHz on the M6800 but I never had the time to try it.
