Correct, the issue that causes Pascal GPUs to BSOD on the M6800 appears to be specific to Windows. You can boot Linux without issue. To get Windows to boot you will have to do some work. (There is a vBIOS for P5000 that allows it to run Windows on the M6800, and you can flash it from Linux. We do not have a working vBIOS for most other Pascal cards.)

I'll say again, P5000 can run on Windows with a flashed vBIOS (which you can do from Linux).
But for other cards, you are right, just Linux isn't that useful. I believe @bobmook runs macOS with a P5000 on his M6800 but with the flashed vBIOS? There is more information in the M6800 graphics upgrade thread.

It worked with MacOS both before and after I flashed the bios, but I certainly didn't test it extensively.....

I will get a M6800 soon, I got it for cheap (like 60$ for M6800/dock/power supply/battery etc) but I might have to replace the board, the old owner tells me that he does not power up (like black screen and that's it), it might also be the gpu and I already have a K4000M laying around. When the issue will be fixed I will try my P4000 in it and also my Zotac GTX1080 if it fit (talking about this card, is it possible to fit a taller card in the M6800 ? it seems like my only issue should be the sata port motherboard-wise)
Someone already tried to unlock all "MQ" processor on the M6800 ? I read on some thread that the turbo of haswell cpu could be "unlocked"
I might also upgrade to a 128Mb L4 cache haswell cpu like the 4770HQ or the 4980HQ (BGA to PGA) and overclock it to at least 4.2GHz (like on my M6700) if overclocking can be done
    The "unlocking" thread : https://www.techinferno.com/index.p...version-intel-haswell-cpu-microcode-bug-hack/

can you install 4980HQ on M4800 too? this is interesting.. I thought 4940mx is the best cpu you can get on M6800.

HQ processor were usually soldered onto the board, but some chinese guys managed to make an "adapter" and soldered them on it instead
