Does anyone know what the manufacturer/thicknesses of the light green thermal pads are on both the cpu and the gpu? When I repasted my cpu the green pads were pretty hard and now my temps hit 97 on core 1 and 80 on core 4 under load so I think my cpu heat sink is skewed. I have repeated this twice with the same results using artic silver mx4 and the got same temps. Thanks in advance for your help.

Finaly got myself together and upgraded my M6800 with AMD M6100 to a Clevo (1617) branded GTX 980m.
Having a new 9184J-heatsink on order with the complete VRM-block in the same height but still a few weeks away i did a small mod on the original AMD-heatsink with the Dremel (just as http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/m6800-owners-thread.736278/page-111#post-10746733).
Using my old X-bracket from the M6100 (perfect match to the original Clevo except correct height and hole size).
Bought a few different thermal-pads and thicknesses and made sure everything were in contact sinze the new 980m card will bring the heatsink a mm or so higher up than the old M6100 and put Arctic Cooling MX-2 on both the GPU and CPU.

Then i searched and found https://premamod.wordpress.com/2017/08/15/j95-nvidia-inf/ with INF-files (Alienware 17 R1 (2014) *Optimus* 980M – 970M) that work well with a little adjustment. In the nvcvi.inf file supplied from premamod i had to add:

    [NVIDIA_Devices.NTamd64.10.0...14310]
    %NVIDIA_DEV.1617.15CD.1028% = Section046, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1617&SUBSYS_15CD1028

    [NVIDIA_Devices.NTamd64.10.0]
    %NVIDIA_DEV.1617.15CD.1028% = Section045, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1617&SUBSYS_15CD1028

    [Strings]
    NVIDIA_DEV.1617.15CD.1028 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M"

Now the most recent drivers is working perfectly with Optimus and everything.

Temperatures is topping 75c in games with 28c in the room.

Very nice. Have you run any graphics benchmarks with it? I'm thinking of picking up a 980m or m5000m for mine.

I have a 980m laying around after my recent upgrade to the P5000. The 980m is a better performer than the m5000m at games.

Let me know if you are interested.

Here you go, fresh from just now. All settings is stock and standard with the new 398.82 drivers, nothing tweaked or overclocked.

Thanks DynamiteZerg and licken. Good info. If the 980m is noticeably better than the quadro I'll definitely go for that instead. Those scores are more than double what the m6100 in my machine gets according to notebookcheck.net

I m currently looking for the EDP motherboard for my M6800, and I found 2 on the internet, their Dell P/N are GDMGC and 98VVR.
From the spec list I can know that both of them are EDP motherboard. Is anyone here know what are the different between them? Which one I should go for?

    Thanks.

    my opinion , M6800
reasons : 4810mq is much newer and slightly has better GPU on board (INTEL HD 4600) with lower TDP and better Performance/Price rating , and suppurts higher Maximum bandwidth compared to 3940xm,
for gpu , k4100m has 60% better overall performance ...
but at last, u may loss that 256SSD . not so important ...!
