Well I got bored with my quadro 3000m and as I mostly use the graphics cards for games I decided to throw an nvidi 670m in instead.

Wasn't sure if it would work but took a risk and I am pleased to report everything is working as expected.

    Optimus works fine.
Fan profile exactly the same as 3000m (ie quiet even under load)
Temps are great, overclocked to 725/1450/900 I dont exceed 68c on load.
    No throttling

All in all I am really pleased. I have all the benefits of a gaming laptop, plus optimus and a business class machine!

Will try and start running benchmarks this evening

    Great news! Congrat.

    Any problems with cooling fitting?

    Waiting for 3DMark11 score...

Maybe that means we could use GTX680m in future?

Will check the BIOS later (at work at the moment).

No problems with fitting, the 670m is same layout as quadro, I even reused the thermal pads (as I couldnt find my spares).

I used AC MX-2 for the cpu and gpu and my temps do not exceed 68c in games/benchmarks and my fans remain quiet as it was using the quadro (whisper quiet in comparison to an m17x r3 on load).

I ran 3dmark11 basic and got:
    stock 598/1196/750 - 2600 gpu score
    OC 725/1450/900 - 3200 gpu score

My quadro 3000m scored 2400 heavily OCed to 700/1400/800

Going to try and push it more when I get home from work.

    Hi,

All good! Been using it as my main gaming and production machine for a month now with no problems.
Optimus works fine and gives me good battery life for work. And with my overclock the machine still runs cool and quiet.

I play a lot of BF3 on it at 1080p high settings so I give it quite a work out :)
