Was the M8900 maxing out at 6850 clocks for you, or was that just as far as you were willing to push it?

Why? Have you had stability issues? Overvolting = more heat != reliability

Ok m8900 users, I am sending my system back on Tuesday for a replacement due to the fingerprint reader not working well and now when u return from standby/hibernate the login screen never shows up... Anyways if someone could guide me though to oc the gpu and at the speeds wanted I have no problem doing so before the system gets returned. I have been out of the pc modding for a while and am not sure what the best tools may be to use. Also as for gaming, I tested splinter cell conviction, c&c 4 and civ V on the highest settings and there were no problems (other than cruddy video playback in conviction but gameplay was smooth).

Can anyone who has had a problem with misreads on the fingerprint reader please leave a quick post, i want to know if it is a lemon or if it is a hardware/software issue. Also anyone else having video issues yet? Apparently the new flash does not work too well and either rollback or install shockwave player and it should clear up the streaming video problems.

That was as far I was willing to push it. I think I can squeeze a little more out of it if I was feeling brave.

There are two ways to OC an ATI card. One method is to use Sapphire TriXX and do a software OC (that is what I use at the moment). It is the easiest and most proficient way of setting an OC. However, I eventually will user the 2nd method which is just re-flashing the vBIOS with the new OC figures. What makes the latter better is that you don't need to run TriXX to keep your OC and games like Bad Company 2 won't go all insane due to PunkBuster red-flagging TriXX as a hacking tool and hard lock your computer.

For a reference to people: 800/1000 is a safe overclock for the 6970M/M8900.

I got 06, Vantage and 11 so sure. However I will prefer if you just show GPU-Only Marks since we all got different CPU's.

So in 3 months no decent review... It looks like there are only few people who got this laptop, or it is so bad that it's not worth?
I see tons of problems for Nvidia quadro users, so M8900 all the way right?
I am just curious because I am here reading every post here and still ...
Anyways there was somebody who made a decent review on M4600. It would be nice to see something about M6600 too.

I am planning on doing a review for my 2nd replacement M6600 once it shows up. I can already say the M8900 is a great choice for this machine if you aren't a stickler for long battery life or ISV/CUDA-enhanced application usage.
