Oh wow, thank you for all the help! Your driver is the same one I'm using. At least I'm not getting any black screen so far. I read that some people had problems with Displayport on this machine too. Anyway, I'll see how it goes. Thanks again!

I refuse to load that tablet OS on to this beautiful and stable machine.

    My 2 cents -

Hi, I have a M6600 and it has a Intel 2960xm. It gets up to 98c at 100% all cores and threads. I have re pasted and replaced the cpu HSF many times to see if it was the problem. I also have tried a variety of pastes. My gpu at 100% only gets to 68c 73c on a bad day. I was wondering what else there is to do at this point? Now just to clarify when under normal use like 2 cores at 90+% it only gets to maybe 78c. But only when 3+ cores get to 90+% it goes into the 90c range up to 98c then one or 2 cores will throttle then it brings the temps down for a few min then right back up again when the throttling turns off. Thanks in advance.

Well I see that you did a repaste. I had a similar probleme where it would overheat a lot and it was all because i used thermal paste on the memory chips that the hs bars touch (between the cpu area and fins in the back). After I cleared that and let thermal paste just on the cpu die it was fine. I hope it makes sense what I wrote just now couse I do not have any pics at hand to draw :)

It seems my M8900 firepro has a problem. Today the screen flickered and was showing a mirror image on the left of what was on the right of the screen. The mouse was also moving slow and dragging the image. Then the screen just went black. I reboot and after it said starting windows, it was black when it got to what was supposed to be the desktop. I uninstalled and reinstalled 3 different drivers, Dell, ATI, etc.. I only can boot into windows in safe mode and everything is fine. The Dell PC diagnostics wont run in safe mode so I can't check the card. The bios does see the card, and the device manager does see the card too. Seems the Generic windows drivers are working for safe mode. Do You think my 8900 is toast?

Seems like it, do the diagnostic test in bios. (not sure if it is accessible from bios, I usually press esc when booting to do that)
