Ok cloning the hdd to the ssd went almost smoothly. Ghost copied the dell utility and c drive partitions with no problems. Upon reboot drmk boots and stays there. Unsure what I was missing... Any help?

Just to add the partition that won't copy is the recovery partition. Also I attempted to repair os with the dell disk and that also did not work.

If someone has a step by step guide it would be appreciated. I have norton ghost and acronis through wd

    Beyond my comfort zone here.

Have a blinking cursor on a black screen on reboot - did you try setting the BIOS to AHCI.

When you made the image did you try to exclude the Recovery and OEM partitions. OEM is useless/nothing - can be deleted. If Recovery is less than 1GB in size probably empty - can be deleted as well. You could also try removing the active setting on the recovery partition but you'll still need to redo the image. Try to make the image with only the OS partition included before going into the other measures.

This is all I can propose.

Arron suggested Acronis which I believe is the WD version, although the same problem could still surface.

    Wired:

If you can get into windows recovery using a dell disk, open a command prompt, type lines as shown except * comments as a final resort to making another image if you get to that point, use at own risk and have a windows image backup of the good HDD, alternative is to wait for someone with more knowledge of cloning:

    diskpart
    list disk
select disk [n] (*[n]number representing the SSD)
    list partition
select partition [n] (*[n]number representing the OS partition)
    active

    What is drmk Oo?

honestly, just do a fresh install instead of fluxing with it unless you have software license attached to the windows~~

Does use of a port replicator or docking station still alow the ports on the laptop to be used? Like when using an older docking station that has no HDMI or USB3 still allow the laptop HDMI and USB3 ports to be used?

Thanks..is it just me, or is Dell crazy with the multiple part numbers, mfg numbers, etc? Just looking at the various docking stations, stands, etc, the cross reference and compatiblility is just a mess of numbers

Flat Panel Monitor Stand for Select Dell Latitude Laptops / Precision Mobile WorkStations

I see ebay has a ton of these brand new for around 20.00 shipped. It's 100.00 plus shipping and tax at Dell. Pretty cool idea for mounting a monitor and using your laptop with a dock down below

We just got in a refurb dell E6530 at the office. I must say this is a very nice laptop, with an impressive external build quality. No flex keyboard and what looks to be rubberized palm rests. Lots of metal on the outside. IMO, the external build is much nicer than the M6600.
