Yeap you can have a caddy with another HDD or SSD in the optical... I have it but it's not so Hot-Swap as in Lattitude series :( maybe due to it's 9.5mm size with no eject lever...
So each time you want to change from the DVD-drive to the HDD/SSD Caddy drive need to open the back cover and push it out... from previous few swap, it's disturb the start-up  still not yet try with new install A12 Bios... maybe next week

Well cause of other issues with the laptop and cause of parts shortages, Dell has agreed to replace/exchange the laptop (Thank you Dell). However, there is a slight problem with the replacement specs. I really like this IPS display, so when I found out it would be a touchscreen instead, I was really against it. I haven't really heard anything about the touch screen, but I doubt it would be a direct replacement for the IPS that I currently have now.

So the other order is still processing, but now I don't know what will happen :(

It is a beautiful screen but it does have high reflection - almost a mirror when off. Unless, and I'm not sure, some 6700's have a reduced glare? - maybe it's like them.
I'm not able to handle glare when outdoors where I'm at often.

I tried a glossy screen once before and I returned it and picked up a AG instead. It hurt my eyes and wasn't good in the environment that I was in.

    The specs read:

    17.3 US FHD(1920x1080)WV AG LED-blit MTouch w/Stylus,Prem Panel Guar,Dell Mobile Precision M6600

I would assume AG means anti-glare, but unless I'm mistaken, this is not a IPS display but a regular 1080p display with touch.

If that's a Dell part name - AG could mean anything. You're right, it is not RGBLED. It is ~90% sRGB w/ White LED Backlight, Not RGB LED Backlight. Only thing that could be better than my screen would be a RGBLED touch screen with no glare. I can't ever go backwards now.

    Edit #1:
    1. If that's a Dell (Internal) part description.
    2. AG could mean Aktiengesellschaft (German Corporation) and may be a distributor for or is subsidiary of LG Mfg. AG is also in part description for LG FHD LCD's in Dell build sheets.
    3. WLED is White LED Backlight.

    Edit #2:
    1. According to Dell the color gamut on a touch screen is 72% and doesn't say which color model is used for a basis - I presume sRGB but it could be NTSC. Glossy seems like more color than on Anti-Glare, and does seem like 72% sRGB when I compare my two - especially when printing.

The touch screen is simply either the LG or AUO anti-glare panel with the digitizer layer on top of it. There is no reasonable way to convert it to an IPS model. The touch screen is a novelty that may be interesting in Windows 8, but I see no real sense for it on this type of system unless you do many small group presentations. If you are use to an IPS display, the novelty of the touchscreen will wear out fast. I would demand Dell either replace your original system with a unit that offers the SAME spec's or upgrade you to something better [per their policy]. IPS to TS is not an upgrade in my opinion.

I requested as such, however they simply stated that once I receive the TS model, I can then pursue other avenues. Which quite honestly, didn't make any sense to me.

So I wrote them back stating what you stated (again), and now I am waiting for a reply. This actually seems a like a stall tactic to be sure I go over my initial 21 days, but I can't be sure of this...

If it is an exchange system within the first 21 days then when the new system ships the 21 days should reset.
Dell is pretty good about this kind of thing but their accounting system can leave one bewildered.

What I'm not understanding is why you agreed to the touch screen if you had an RGBLED. A straight exchange is not a problem but things can get confusing when parts changes are factored in.

RMA is another alternative if someone is giving you a hard time getting an even exchange proccessed. You will need to reorder the system though.

I didn't agree to it...thats the point I was making to them. They just said, we have no systems that match your specs, so here we are giving you this one. Regardless if this was from outlet or not, its just odd.

The reason they stated is: "“That is not possible as the RGB monitor is no longer available and has been replaced with the multi-touch premium LCD..."

Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful that they are doing this and I told them that. However I picked a IPS screen and now I'm spoiled by it :(
