Thanks, only reason its that particular ram is its the only the sell from that site and that's where we have an account. I'll find 1600Mhz somewhere else.

    Hi everyone, first post.

My M6600 should arrive tomorrow according to the tracking Number. Since I currently own a quad core QX9300, 8Gb ram M6400 with a Vertex 2 120Gb HD and a 500 Gb Momentus XT hd, I will try to give my feedback as well. I already know I will be disappointed at the screen, but it is one of those changes in life you all will have to accept, since it is here to stay!

I did order a 256 Mobility III hard drive, so I will make sure I let everyone know what brand/model it is, and what subjective performance gains I see.

I also ordered 16Gb of memory, and even though I paid a fortune for it, I want it to be 100% compatible, I don't want to spend time troubleshooting the system, but using it.

I wish I could run it on Optimus, but the FirePro won't let me ... my main use for it is to run virtualized environments on it. I will probably find a 2nd hard drive fast enough but with lots of capacity, currently have a Seagate Momentus XT 500 Gb ... I am all ears for opinions of notebook hard drives with bigger capacities that are fast ....

Don't you think that the track pad is way to the left? I generally work with my right hand so was wondering whether it could be a problem?

    Hi all,
I've ordered my m6600 two weeks ago (can't wait for it!!), in the mean time i found that the quadro 3000m and 4000m support nvida 3D vision and would like to know if it's possible to use it directly from the m6600 screen..
Can anyone tell me the refresh rate of the FHD non IPS panel of m6600? does it support 120hz?
    thanks

This is what I was thinking before I received my M4600 as well, but when i started using it, i completely forgot it was even a concern. It's very easy to get accustomed to. What I am trying to get use to is the numpad because my last laptop didn't have one. I keep hitting the numpad keys while trying to hit delete (not backspace), and the arrows keys as well, since thats been moved towards the middle. It is very nice that I have a dedicated page up, page down key though. Use to have to hit FN and some random button for it.

Nice to hear that it's not gonna be a problem. Hopefully you will get used to the keyboard (numpad) as well. Btw how's the keyboard? i've read mixed reviews.

Feels a lot more like a traditional keyboard, I really like it but I am reading mixed reviews as well. They're softer than I am use to, which I do like.

Same here. I will be ordering my M6600 tomorrow as well.

    My Config:

    Intel Core i7-2820QM Quad Core 2.30GHz 8M cache w/ Turbo BoostTech 2.0
    8.0GB, DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM, 2 DIMMS
    NVIDIA Quadro 4000M with 2GB GDDR5
    17.3 FHD(1920x1080) Anti-Glare LED-backlit with Premium Panel
    500GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
    Internal English Backlit Keyboard
    8X DVD+/-RW Slot Load
    Bluetooth Module
Internal Swipe Fingerprint Reader and Contactless Smartcard Reader
    Intel vPro
    3 year NBD pro

    Total: $2,998

I will be doing my own hard drive and SDRAM upgrades. I will be using it for 3d Renderings and huge CAD drawings. (Software: AutoCAD Civil 3D, 3ds Max, Revit Architecture and other typical office software MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project etc...)

I'm still not sure if I should get the NVIDIA Quadro 3000M or stick with the the 4000M...

That's some sweet deal you are getting. Nice.

As for the quadros, frankly i never used one so am not sure. But i guess with your kind of work 4000 is better suited (though some are complaining about the lack of performance due to unavailability of proper drivers yet). 5010m may be even better but that is if you are willing to wait for it and spend at least double of what you are spending on 4000.

I choose fire pro as it is a cheaper and balanced option. Setting a quadro (3000) in the config was shooting the price up to 3200$.
