    This was the 1866 I was looking at: Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1866 HyperX Plug n Play Laptop Memory Model KHX1866C11S3P1K2/8G

    This is the 1600mhz I ended up purchasing (x2 for 16gb): Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 HyperX Plug n Play Laptop Memory Model KHX1600C9S3P1K2/8G
Free antivirus with purchase (wasn't available when I bought it)

    This one is $15 cheaper, not sure what the difference is: Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model KHX1600C9S3K2/8GX

There are a few other 2x4GB 1600mhz sticks in their inventory for about $10 cheaper but they all have CAS 11 where as these two are CAS 9.

Good to know, thanks. I wasn't aware of that.

Thanks for all of the memory information. Just read the Intel spec sheet for the 2920XM and it states the CPU supports (1066/1333 and 1600).

It is amazing how much more than MSRP/Full Retail $$$ Dell charges for memory, CPU and HD upgrades. I usually do my own memory and HD/SSD stuffing options because of this.

I am considering the i7-2920XM, with OCZ Vertex 3 SSDs and memory updates.

Just need to decide on a graphics card and I should be set. Wish the M6600 supported 1920x1200 instead of 1080.

On that note, I saw this the other day, not sure if its a good deal or not, but you can check it out yourself. OCZ Vertex 3 240GB - $412.24 !!! - Slickdeals.net Also check out the replies as it's slower than the retail box.

having a dual core really sucks :( first i find out i can only use 2 slots of memory, and now i find out it dosent even support the higher speeds. sigh. oh well. i suppose the main thing is an SSD. which i can easily get. that would really be a visible increase in performance

plus i suppose i shouldnt be complaining since it was free

Free is good :) You can always get a new one a few years down the road. How does warranty/support work on your laptop? Are you able to purchase a new warranty or renew it or does it expire when your old system's warranty expires?

Wow that's crazy. Very cool. I feel like I've been waiting for mine forever. 10 more days if it stays on schedule.
