With Dell's software installed, you can use your fingerprint as a power-on password. (post->raid->asks for fingerprint)

I don't know about the HDD password being a fingerprint. There is an option in the bios but I haven't tried it.

Anyone had trouble with the system not going to sleep when the lid is closed? I have it setup that way so far the only way I've gotten it to go to sleep is by changing the behavior of the power button and tell it to sleep myself.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks, Matt

    Thanks.

Some Dell people are around here. Hopefully they read this. How could Dell sell a certified high-end laptop that does not work with 3rd party eSata HDs? Does Dell sell any eSata HDs? If not then no one can use their eSata port for external HDs. Truly bizzare.

Let us know what external eSata HD you are testing.
So far both WD Studio II and Lacie 4TB 4big Quadra will not work via M6600 eSata.

Reload the audio driver and restart the system.

My eSata drive works. It works with my main AHCI config of the Samsung 128gb mSata + 2x 750gb drives. I even grabbed 2 spare hard drives, set them up in RAID0, and did a quick W7 Ent 64 install and it works.

The drive shows up in Bios. It shows up in the Intel Raid Manager (Ctrl-I at boot) and it shows up in Windows.

    Here are the drive details:

    Western Digital - WD15000H1CS-00 - My Book Home Edition - 1.5 TB - USB 2.0 / FireWire400 / eSATA. Purchased Jan 16th 2010.

I have had problems with the eSata cable that came with this particular drive. Lots of other people did as well. It always worked fine on the M6500 and now the M6600, but it had issues on some other machines.
