Hi, great review, thank you. Just an idea if you wanted to extend it a little further, you could do a bit writing/photos with your dock experience. That would be helpful I think :)

Thanks for the power info. With my QM, 4000M, SSD on the "Dell" profile I am getting between 3 and 4 hours on a battery charge doing normal web surfing, chat, and some software development work (occasional compiles and runs). It charges in under an hour while sleeping (might be less, haven't timed it).

I could never run my previous laptop off plug doing this work since it would die in 40 minutes easy. This 3 hours on, 1 hour off matches my work pattern pretty well.

I do have a question. Is the power plug size standardized between the dells? I have an Energizer XP18000 that I want to try out with the m6600. They don't specifically list that tip on their site. Since you say all those adapters work with the m6600 does that mean Dell is standardized on a specific size? Would an M6500 tip work?

    Thanks, Matt

I have a 4000M (Optimus Enabled), but since no one else replied and my config is the same other than the video card...

I'm getting between 3 and 4 hours of steady use on the "Dell" power configuration. Web browsing, chat, software development.

Yeah any tip used since the M6400 will work as well as any Alienware M17x Rx, M15x R2, M11x Rx and M18x tip will work as well.

I am seeing run times all over the place with Optimus enabled. It is very dependent on whether the Quadro kicks in. Would be nice if Dell could almost disable the Quadro when you had it in the Extended Battery Life power mode.

If you want to really simplify it, the machine uses 10-20 watts of power. On top of that you have the video card. The Nividia seems to pull around 10 watts in its low power mode. I don't have access to a machine with the ATI card to test.

Anyway to get a Quadro 5000M and a custom heatsink into an M6600?

I don't think the Dell one would work. The Quadro 5000M was offered in the M6500 and I don't think it had MXM 3b. Not sure about ones from other vendors. After seeing the issues that were seen with the Clevo Geforce 485M, I am not going call 3rd party cards likely.

Hopefully Dell will release the 5010M soon.

There is a 5000M with MXM 3.0b but it comes from HP though from the Elitebook 8740w.
