Canon 5Dmk2 with the 24-70/2.8L and 100/2.8 Macro. The only issue I ran into with the photos is that the white balance was all over the place because of the multiple sources of lighting.

We are going to tear down the two M6600s in the repair center in the next day or two to see how the thermal solutions were handled for the CPU and GPU. I will be adding more pics to the review.

    Great write-up!

I must say though, I am really glad I got the M6500 in January when I did. The M6600 looks great, but I still prefer 16:10 aspect ratio screens for everything except movie watching, which isn't something I do on this machine.

I like the smaller batteries and the easier to remove HDD, but other than that, I don't see anything urging me to trade in my M6500. I assume the M6600 supports Sandy Bridge, but oh well.

I don't really see the advantage in having a touch screen on a workstation laptop. Don't want finger prints on my screen either.

Added info on CPU/GPU/Keyboard/ and the thermal solutions. I have the info posted into the second slot of this thread - just below the main review.

Thanks for grabbing those shots for us. :) It's hard to tell from pictures alone but judging by the way the grease on the CPU looks to have spread out, I think a few more degrees could be squeezed out by lapping the base on the heatsink. However, with the shape of that heatsink assembly, I don't think that's going to be an option for most people. There isn't really a practical way to do it in your garage or whatever, unless you happen to be a machinist.

Depending on the temps I see with mine, and my desire to fiddle with something, I may go ahead and order a couple of spare heatsinks and see what I can do with them.

 Guts, guns, paint chips, nixie tubes, and more! That's one heck of a review, very informative and entertaining to read. Thanks!

But you left me hanging on one part... What's the color gamut of the Compet 32? :D

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the M4600 w/IPS, as that's what I have and so far I'm loving it. Hmm, that reminds me, I should put that in my sig...

Have been told that the M4600 would be heading this way. Just not sure of when.

I actually have the M6500 and M6300 warming up to capture their color gamuts. I am going to go ahead and re-measure the Compet 32.

    Gamuts posted.

The M6500 shows a much wider gamut than the current WLED screens offered by the M6600. The M6500 rgbled is pretty much the same as a Dell U2410 desktop monitor.

The Compet 32 gamut is so small that the dots are pretty much on top of each other.

Can't wait to measure the M4600.

Interesting review, great photos -- "gunmetal gray", for sure, but changes with the light, gotta love it. Nice shots of the guts.

Now, to hear about the M4600 in IPS!!! Let's get it on!
