i7 second generation is Sandy Bridge, not Ivy Bridge. These will be Core i7 CPUs with model numbers starting with "2".

You can add a bluetooth module if your machine didn't come with one. You'll need to locate the module and cable (perhaps another M6600 owner can identify the part numbers).

Today I think theres Bluetooth 2.0.
    I also have i5-2520m
    Nvidia Quadro 3000

Would it be worth it upgrading anything ot this? What would I eventually gain on it?

My M6600 came in a similar configuration and was able to sucesfully update it to i7 2960xm and amd 7970m and the gains are stellar compared to i5+quadro 3000m

Is that with WiFi and Bluetooth on or off? I have the M8900 and it will drain the 97 whr battery in short order. I am thinking of changing to the 4000M to get Optimus. What all would I need to get to accomplish that?

    Thanks!

I did some testing by plugging into a "Kill A Watt" and removing the battery to check out how much each action affected power usage.
Normal: 2720QM, 16GB RAM, Touch Screen, 1920 x 1080, Windows 8 (downgraded from 7), 512GB Micron SSD, 750 SATA (usually sleeping), brightness 2 up from lowest, Intel wireless 6350 AGN triple, Bluetooth on with Bluetooth mouse, USB Keyboard.

    System Watts in various configurations:
    Normal: 32.7 watts
Using Touch Screen: 67 watts (there's a surprise)
Plug in phone to charge: 35.2 watts
    USB Flash Drive: 32.7 watts
Turn off Bluetooth and Wireless: 32.7 watts (huh!)
Turn brightness all the way down: 32 watts
Turn brightness all the way up: 40 watts
Brightness 2 from bottom: 32.7 watts
    Screen off: 27.7 watts
Actively surfing the web: 39 watts
Watch a YouTube movie full screen: 60 watts
Watch a YouTube movie in a window: 61.5 watts (huh!)
Move mouse around screen a lot: 39 watts.
Move mouse rapidly over browser buttons: 46 watts
While I'm typing this the load goes up to: 40 watts

Considering the internal resistance of the battery etc., this is only about a 2 1/2 hour machine at best. I'd rather see the 8 to 13 watts Bokeh gets, and the battery life that goes with it. It would be nice to be able to turn the M8900 off and use just the video built into the CPU like Optimus does since I'm not a gamer anyway.

Have you try Stylus Duo Sense from some other machine such as Sony Vaio, Acer or some N-trig Digitizer Devices on M6600, does it work ? How is the pressure sensitivity ? Is it really usable in Photoshop or Illus and Zbrush as well ? Thanks for the reporting of "Watt Eater"

I may not the best one to talk to about this. I bought it with touch because Windows 8 was going to be touch, and I own an IT business, so I needed it for demo purposes. I do design work in Photoshop, but neither finger nor stylus can be even remotely as productive as a mouse or digitizer tablet. When I use it with my M6600, it's to impress people, not because it is productive. I don't use touch much, outside of a phone and tablet. It does work well.

I was kicking around the idea on upgrading to the 2920XM, but coming from the 2760QM, I don't think it would be worth it.
