    Hi Bokeh,

Can you see if the TDP and TRL is adjustable with Throttle Stop 3.1?
If it can be adjusted means we can overclock these 2920xm equipped M6600.

Video of how to check the TDP and TRL below. I just want to know if can be adjusted or is it locked with throttle stop. Each model is different. In the newer ones they might have locked the bios or not.

Lenovo Thinkpad W510 Overclocking Guide- YouTube

Here is the video of how to do it.

BTW: how much you pay for the system? With the 2920xm?

    thanks for checking.

    I have Throttlestop 3.0.1 - can't find 3.1.

TRL is unlocked. TDP is not.

TDP (Called TPL in Throttlestop) from the factory allows it to go up from 55 watts to 68 watts. This must be why the 2920XM runs for a while fully loaded at 3.2+ghz and then settles down to around 2.8ghz.

I really am glad Dell gave us this hidden performance feature. Had I known about it earlier it would have made the 2920xm an easier decision.

As far as I am concerned, unless the machine is under an extended load, this processor is a 3.2ghz processor. Under an extended load it is still a 2.8ghz.

Cool. If the TRL was adjustable we could have seen higher clock speeds. How about your old system the 920xm were both the TRL and TDP adjustable? Like on my W510, I can adjust both the TRL and TDP. I can get turbo boost speeds of 3.4ghz to 3.7ghz..with throttle stop running.

What is the max TRL settings on this M6600? Reason why I am asking is for comparison shake with W520 which I will be getting.

No you do not need to have the other drives in a RAID configuration. Only if you choose to.

    Nice review. :)
I chose the 3000M video card as I needed the features it enabled more than the speed of the ATI. I would have gone with the 4000M, but that is just too much extra to pay at this time. I will wait until the MXM card prices come down and then upgrade... which is a nice ability to have in itself.

Has anyone with a quadro 3000 ran the specviewperf 11 benchmark yet? I think that's the only card that hasn't been tested.

Edit: and if you can run the 3dmark benchmarks that would be nice too.

I am on the road with my E6520, but will look into some M6600 w/ 3000M benchmarks when I return late next week.

In the meantime, based on the data HERE, below is how the 3000M places in relation to the 4000M and 5010M in addition to other current "class 1" video cards. Again, if I can save several hundred USD$ in the short term sticking with the 3000M, it will do fine for my business/personal needs while not being "that much" slower than the other work workhorses in real world applications.

This is also a very interesting chart from Nvidia, which shows the 3000M and 4000M are very similar cards (same memory bandwidth) with the exception of the CUDA core count.

I know Dell has a proprietary heatsink for the Quadro GPU, but is it upgradable? IIRC it is MXM..
