No - the Dell outlet stuff comes with a proper service tag.

BTW - the service tag is visible in the BIOS - go into the bios on boot up and you can access it.

I had a look before and found a service tag in the Bios. But if you use it online it says that the warranty is expired and the spec list is in Italian, which I guess shows that it was originaly ordered in Italy by someone.

    Bizzare!
I wonder what happened to the unit that made Dell remove its normal warranty - even the Dell outlet items have a good warranty.

I'd keep hassling Dell then for the parts...or order a 2nd drive for it from Dell - yes you'll pay over the odds, but you will get all the bits I guess.
Then again - maybe you won't - if Dell expect the interposer etc to be in there, they might just ship a drive.
    :(

When I talked to the owner of the shop 2 weeks ago he said that he specially ordered a 3 year warranty with the laptop. He said that he was going to check up on the service tag, but I have not heard anything yet. I want to get the warranty stuff sorted :(

Is the interposer not a standard part?

No idea about the interposer being a standard part or not...I'd never even heard of the word 'till after I ordered my M6400.

I would get onto it with him, do you have any paper work stating a 3 year warranty??

Do not bother ordering a 2nd hard drive in the hopes that it comes with the carrier and interposer. The drives are naked - you would still need to order the cage and interposer from Dell.

The fact that the parts are normally included with the M6400 - even if you order a single drive - is probably why they are very difficult to get - even from dell. I own a 1720 - which also has the ability to take 2 drives - I only ordered 1 and the parts were not included (I'm glad they changed their policy on the M6400 and include them as standard). When I finally got them for the 1720 - they are actually sold as "refurbished" and their availability was based on machines returned and not resold through the outlet. Availability was hit and miss.

I would chat with Dell Tech Support - and explain the situation to them, Maybe you'll get someone that will do something for you. Explain that you are even willing to pay for them - even thought they are supposed to come standard. Can't hurt to try - several times.

I have been into the shop and he said that the warranty is being transferred and it will be the same service tag that can be found in the bios. It might be done by next week. Apparently their contact at Dell is on holiday. So I am a bit happier, but of course I will not be completely happy until its done :p The SILxxxx number is the shops own warranty tag :D

Hopefully my quest for a second HD will soon be easier...
