I want to get a second hard drive for my lovely M6400.

Of course, to add a 2nd HDD, I need to get the carrier and the interposer for a 2nd hdd slot. I contacted Dell and they said that they don't sell it, but told me to get into contact with www.upgrade.co.uk. They have replied today saying:

So what are my options? Do someone know of another place in the UK to get them? Or do I have to look abroad?

Any help will be much appreciated :)

Have you opened your M6400? My M6400 came with the interposer and the hdd caddy, but I ordered it with only 1 hdd!

Did you remove the foam and flip it over? Dell puts the screws and interposer in the bottom side of the foam.

    +1

I'm in the UK, and got my M6400 in December - the carrier and interposer where there.

If yours really isn't there, then you need to threaten Dell with trading standards, because according to Dell's published literature it is supplied with the laptop.

In which case you need to get onto Dell - they should give you one for free - an essential part of the laptop is missing.

You could threaten to return the laptop even.

    Point to here: http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/wsm6400/en/sm/hdd.htm#wp1180023

    Where it states
    Give them hell.

The problem is that I bought it as cancelled stock not directly from Dell, so I probably don't have any rights. Thanks anyways :)

If you bought it from the Dell outlet, then you will have the same rights.

It was bought from a shop near work that has been selling cancelled stock and refurbished computers from Dell for years. It came with 3 years of warranty from Dell. The thing is that it does not come with a service tag, so I can't deal with Dell. I have asked to get it from him but I have been working away for 2 weeks now (Sitting in a hotel room at the moment  ). Instead of a service tag underneath it has a sticker' which says 'Warranty void if removed' with a number 'SIL007XXX'. Is this the service tag for outlet units? I don't know if I am being stupid?
