Hello. I am having a lot of issues with blue screens on my M4800. I was wondering if anyone else is having or had similar issues?

I did a clean install of retail Windows 8.1 Pro and have had numerous blue screens with the cause seeming to be different reasons. I am using a Xonar U3 usb sound card which seemed to be related to some recent crashes but I previously removed all of those drivers and the crashing continued (and the crashing was happening before I installed the U3).

I've updated all drivers that I could find, have not installed Intel RST (using Bitlocker edrive on Samsung mSATA boot drive), and have LPM under power options disabled.

I did find the thread on system freezes but I've only had one the 2nd day I used the machine and nothing since, so at least I don't seem to have that issue. I normally use it docked with the dock's 230W power supply. But the blue screens have happened undocked with the 180W supply as well.

Any ideas on how to proceed with this? I will run memtest over the weekend to see if any issues show up there. I also had driver verifier enabled for a period of time, PowerDVD keep triggering it so I uninstalled that and have since turned driver verifier off.

I haven't had to deal with blue screens in years and I'm not sure contacting Dell is going to be useful. If I have to spend hours on it and re-install Windows, etc I would probably just switch back to my Lenovo W510. Thanks for any assistance. The most recent blue screen causes (from WhoCrashed):

I got the m5100 for Autocad 2014 and it runs fine, no issues. I didn't see much difference between the two. Autocad uses the processor more to render than the video card if you are doing 3d, and 2d either is overkill.

I have a problem with Bluetooth.
Windows 7 x64 shows that BT adapter is working fine and allows to change its settings.
Bluetooth status light at the front panel is always off.
Niether Windows finds a BT device nor a BT device finds Windows.

    Wi-Fi networking works fine.

Can you suggest a workaround please?

Has anyone else had problems with the hard drive free fall feature?

As of recent I keep tripping the accelerometer when I pick up/put down my unit, triggering an instant shutdown.

Rather annoying but luckily I've not lost any data yet.

    Hi,
    I've a M4800 FHD 500gb SSHD Win7 Pro

I wish to add a SSD on mSata port and install Linux on it

    Any specific setting in bios?

Raid settings as to be left with Raid On or have I to choose AHCI mode?

    thanks

Did they fix the overly aggressive throttling problem with the 90 & 120W power supplies?
As long as that that is in the BIOS I am stuck with the A06 BIOS.

I have a whole pile of 90W power supplies that I'm not willing to simply throw away.
When one travels a lot, the 180W/240W power supplies are simply not an option due to their huge size.
I need to carry a few more things around in my backpack then just the laptop and one of those huge bricks.

If I wanted a stationary computer, I would have bought a standard PC.

Still locked at 800mhz without the right adapter. Such a shame too as A06 has the best adapter compat, but A07 (for me anyway) had much better fan/temp control.

    Wonder what happened to a08
