    Hello,

A small feedback from my part and I have another questions related to sound problem I got after a fresh install. First a feedback about the following points :

Well, in my case, samsung drive came with a nice software that does ALL the necessary tweaks for you depending on what is you usage (performance, max reliability etc.) The only thing to do , BEFORE installation, select AHCI from bios. That's all. When you finish OS installation, install software that comes with Samsung (magician) and it will do the rest for you.

I searched more about this subject, sorry for the language but this is complete Nvidia made bull. Anyway, if you unzip the driver with a software like 7Z, you can install the components one by one. As I indicated before, a component named "nvidia update" creates this user. Very silly!

Unfortunately this point still remains unanswered , I did not achieve to find a way to switch graphic cards, I don't understand neither when the system uses nvidia , when it uses Intel.

Another problem I encountered after a fresh install, I am all ears if you know how to get rid off it

5/ After fresh install, when windows starts, speakers make a noise, very ugly, like squeezed radio frequency also reminds me of someone farting :) . I did not have this problem when I got the computer but now I have. I am suspecting of a driver problem but I don't know how to resolve this issue. Any ideas ?

    Thanks a lot your time

    T.

No unfortunately not. This morning I just had time for a quick glance and I saw a change that the error message now actually mentions that the radio part of the 5570 is powered down.
I'll post more details when I'm back home.

AFAIK, the optical drive is SATA II but the mSATA should be SATA III. Can't test unless you wanna send me an mSATA drive ;), sorry.

Hello Traveler...quick question for you...did you benchmark your 1TB mSATA to see what speeds you are getting? Is it running on 3Gb/s (SATA2) or 6Gb/s (SATA3)?

    thanks

When you have a hard drive caddy in the optical bay it runs at sata 3 (6gb/s) speeds.

Feedback about that issue : installing latest drivers from realtek for high definition audio resolves it.

Question to M4800 users, long writing does not cause pain your wrists?
The front edge the laptop is quite high and also sharp endings that in my opinion is unpleasant at work.
    Any experience?

I'll notice the left corner occasionally, but I would hardly call it "sharp". I definitely can't wear a watch while comfortably typing on this computer, but I have that with any/all computers/keyboards.

Maybe you could try using the computer with it not quite centered in front of you (i.e. slightly to the left), or wear a long sleeved sweatshirt, so you don't notice it as much?

How can I tell which screen manufacturer I have?

I had this optical drive issue Precision Mobile Workstation M4800/M6800 - Noisy optical drive without media | Dell US and updating BIOS from A03 to A06 fixed it.

Do I really need to update this and I wonder if there's a newer version now?
Intel USB 3.0 xHCI Driver Windows 7 Update (Intel_Chipset_4th-Gen-U-Series_8-Series_C220-Series_USB3_A02_44RM6_SETUP_ZPE.exe)

I looked at USB properties in control panel and the driver version is 9.4.0.1017

Also the Dell update program keeps saying an update for the Intel 7260 is available after I've updated it several times and it looks like I have the current driver.

So my M4800 arrived yesterday (two days after putting the order in!) - and overall I mostly like it. I wiped the harddrive and went straight to Linux Mint first thing, and there are one or two little quirks in Linux, and then one big quirk. Which is that the crappy Broadcom card Dell uses has connected to wireless twice in probably over twenty attempts (there was a lot of futile rebooting of both the laptop and the router and modem). This is a known issue with Linux and Broadcom cards in general, and this particular card specifically (I appear to be in a minority by having had it connect at all). Theoretically I can buy an Intel card on NewEgg or something and put it in myself but I just paid almost $2k for this, and I don't want to risk doing something that screws up my warranty.

What are the chances I can get Dell to replace the Broadcom card with an Intel one (which they offer under the more-expensive 'fully-customizeable' option but didn't for my option)?
