32 GB limitation is probably because of the processor, since you can put 32 GB sticks in Precision 7710 (DDR4), but you can't surpass 64 GB. Even if you put more, it only recognizes first 64 GBs.

You are welcome to try, though. It would be nice to confirm that if you are willing to pay most than double than you should, lol.

I mean, even if it works, I think 64 GB is just too much for a quad core i7 4th gen processor.

I'm guessing there could be a chance that 64GB will work with i7 4910MQ.

i7 4910MQ's specification says it will only work with 1333 MHz and 1600 MHz RAM cards however users found they can use 1866MHz and 2133MHz RAM cards as well.
That's only because 1600MHz RAM card was the maximum available when M4800 came out.

It will be awesome if anyone can try out the 64GB

So in the other thread I've been upgrading my GPU to a WX-4150, which also led me to believe I can watch my 10-bit videos without it stalling. Well, that isn't the case it seems. I am pretty sure the WX-4150 is capable of playing 10-bit through its decoder. It's UVD 6.3 and I am sure it's able to do it... More investigation I guess.

Haven't been following closely, but do you have graphics switching turned on? When I tried a Quadro P5000 in my M6700, I had to go to Windows graphics settings and set the video player to use the "high-power GPU" in order to get smooth 10-bit HEVC playback.

Yeah it is on. Tried that with VLC, no dice. The video would display, and only now I think it's not because it's HEVC because I found out the video I tested is .MOV at 10-bit. But, I should still be able to play the video just fine. It's bizarre behavior.

The $110 32GB RAM (8GB x 4) from Micron is working well on my M4800

Now I just need to get 4940MX CPU !
4940MX is still selling for $240 on Ebay.
Not sure when we'll be able to buy it for under $150.

I might consider 1866Mhz RAM at some point. I'm going from 4200M to 4810MQ though, which was the most affordable i7 I could find.

Just upgraded from the i5 4200M to the i7 4810MQ, which was what the service tag said it'd come with. Also, a nice addition to the BIOS setup, and it's the use of VT-d Direct I/O, so that's a step up from the 4710MQ in my Zbook. It's coming together nicely now.

I never liked the bios setting layout in HP with its dumbed down bare white UI with some buttons compared to iLO on the servers.
Dell bios settings is one of the things I really love about Dell, like using Yast2 in Opensuse.
I have the i7-4940MX, and 32GB four blue dell branded Hynix HMT41GS6BFR8A-PB 1600mhz.
Not sure how much of a difference 1800mhz would do, still interesting..

The adapter I got with my M4800, isn't official. Claims to be 180W but I have doubts because, for one, wouldn't 180W be heavier than a 150 (my HP's 150W feels heavier than the "180W" Dell adapter) at all?

I'm hoping to find 1866MHz RAM at a reasonable price for 32GB, even if means sourcing from different sellers.
