When I had my M6700 keyboard replaced, they did not require me to ship back the original keyboard. I was told that when you get your package, if it did not come with a pre-paid return shipping label, then you don't need to send your original part back.

Replacing the keyboard doesn't take much time. I was done in about five minutes. Remove the trim, remove the keyboard (five screws and a connector to the motherboard), move the keyboard<->motherboard cable from the old keyboard to the new keyboard (a small plastic flap where the cable connects to the keyboard lifts up), then attach everything back.

Good to know, thanks. I just got the package at work yesterday, but I'm leaving town today, so I didn't want to open it until I return.

Glad to hear I don't have to worry about sending one back. Thanks again!

More Windows 10 drivers today... The Intel HD, NVIDIA, and Touchpad drivers are all older than what is on Windows Update, but the Ethernet driver seems good. (As noted above, the stock Windows 10 driver did not work for either of the M4800's I tried on Windows 10.)

Testing win 10 on a spare SSD, the only driver issue I'm seeing so far is that I can't get the WiGig to work. Still need to try a clean install after the upgrade, but I assume I'll need to wait for an updated driver.

Can anyone else on W10 chime in about battery life?

I seem to have 'lost' some battery life on light tasks (browsing, office, music, videos etc.) - previously ~6 hrs (W8.1), now down to 4:45 hrs.

I'm using the balanced power plan with balanced thermals in the Dell power manager.

Completely anecdotal and not backed up by any numbers or testing, but I felt like I was getting slightly more run time, but that may be because I haven't loaded up all my heavy-usage programs yet.

To those of you who got M4800 pre-installed with Windows 7 (Pro) but with a dual license including Windows 8.1 (Pro)… How did the license look, physically? Can you remember—especially if you got your machine in early 2014? And is it listed in your packing slip? Did you have a separate key to enter during the clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro? (Possibly on the packing of an included disc?)

(I have this stupid problem of being on a separately bought, clean-installed 8.1, which is however not Pro. :( It has buggered me ever since.)

The key for Windows 8/8.1 is embedded in the UEFI. The Windows installer should automatically pick this up, though if you have a W8 key, you have to put in the generic W8.1 key, then to actually activate W8.1 you put in your W8 UEFI key.
