Sounds horrible. Sounds like one should only have parts delivered and make whatever swap himself.
Care to elaborate what was your problem with the machine to begin with?
(It only reinforces my gut feeling that I would not let anyone touch my machine unless it was a matter of life and death.)

Thanks. I indeed expect software, but I don't have it on any of my other systems which run the same user-installed software. It most be something of the Dell-installed / drivers / software I guess. Anyone experiencing this?

K key on my internal keyboard is dying - very hard to press.

Asking Dell to send a replacement, and I was asked if an external keyboard works. Yes, duh...

I just had my M6700 keyboard replaced and I made sure to point that out (external keyboard works) during the discussion. :p
In my case it was just the Home/End keys that were starting to not activate when pressed.

Hmmmmmm, it's working fine now that I carried the machine home. That's really weird, since it was having issues right up to the time I left.

Updated to Windows 10 Enterprise today. (Using MSDN key until VL keys become available at the end of the week.)

    Only real issue —
Ethernet shows connected but unable to pull address after update. Looks like Windows installed a bad driver. Pulled the most recent one from Dell's site (for Windows 8.1) and it fixed the issue. This also happened with a colleague's machine (also M4800) so doesn't seem to be a fluke.

And now the - key is the one that's hard to press, so I'm thinking maybe there's some loose debris floating around beneath the keyboard?

I would say that sounds like the most likely explanation.

Thanks. Dell already sent the replacement but I probably won't have time to open it up and make the swap, or just clean out the culprit, until next weekend.

Anyone know the keyboard is a part where Dell requires the faulty piece to be returned?
