The AUO V.4 was never used by Dell in M4600. Instead it came with a LG TN FHD panel which was pretty good though. It was a bit grainy due to agressive antiglare coating typical on LG screens, but contrast, brightness and viewing angles were as good if not better than in AUO V.4. The only advantage of the AUO V.4 over other good quality TN panels is wider color gamut. It's some of M4700 machines that came with the infamous TN FHD chimei panel. I can't tell if it is really such an horrid panel because my M4700 had an LG panel instead, not the same than M4600's but still very good too. It depends, Dell usually uses different LCD suppliers for the same machine configuration and you'll receive one or another at random.

I heard that you could adapt the ThinkPad cap to the Dell by using Polymorph Plastic and mould it into shape if you're really dedicated!

Well, you'd need some sort of adapter, it's not a direct drop in. If you knew the dimensions, I suppose the best experience would be provided by having an adapter made, but that would be expensive.

    Had another question....

Will a 7mm SSD fit ok in the main hdd slot? I was thinking about getting the Samsung 840 EVO 500GB and sticking it in there if the I get the M4700.

Yes, it will fit even without a spacer. If it were a HDD, you'd need to screw it in if you don't have a spacer, but given that it's a SSD, that's not even necessary.

Tijo to the rescue! Thanks. Yeah, I was wondering if the low profile would just wobble around or how it would work. I have a Thinkpad T500, and it fits with the spacers after screwing it down.

The caddy uses pressure to hold the drive. There is a space between a 7 mm drive and the bottom of the caddy. There is enough pressure to hold the drive firmly in place, but I'm a bit wary of HDD vibrations, since there are no such vibrations with a SSD, I don't see it getting out of the correct position in the caddy even with the gap left by the lack of spacer.

Good to know, I take your word for it. Even if I was worried... say that the connector might not be able to take the stress of it hanging, I would imagine I could probably just shove some cardboard or something.
