My CPU also idles in the 46 - 50 temp range. Under load it'll go to at least 60. My GPU is usually 50+ @ idle

My gpu is at 65 idle with a 22 lcd in the vga connector.

I disabled my 22 lcd and closed it and its at 64 now cant seem to go lower.

    Why so hot on idle?

my cpu is at 35 or so on idle i stripped some stuff but i have not format yet.

if you want me to test downclock temp in A03 and check when it happens in company of heroes i will.

is 65 at idle normal ?

Those temps seem a bit more normal but still a bit warm.
I have a 27" screen connected and when idle my GPU temp is around 46-48,
CPU is in the low 20's.
That GPU temp is as low as it will go, in normal use it will be around 54.

    Sydalesis....you get downclocking in A03?

yes i do actually get downclocks in every bios including a03.

my laptop monitor flickers once very fast and then i notice the downclocking its very easy to see in certain games.

Dell should really start putting P cpus in this laptop... The P9500 would use 10 less watts than the T9400 running the same speed.. I just asked them if I could order an M4400 with a P9500 cpu and they said no.

i find that really weird.....they did have the P9500 on their selection list not too long ago. in fact the first M4400 i ordered back in late sept had the RGBLED and the P9500....he sent me the quotation to sign, but a day later he called me back saying the few units of RGBLED displays they had were gone, supply issue they dint have any more.....and he dint say anything else about the P9500

however he did give me a revised quotation with higher specs and lots of freebies which made it a phenomenally good deal. so i dint really complain :p

i wish someone would do a battery rundown test P series vs T series on the M4400. curious to see what the difference will be. Cos with the 9 cell battery im getting pretty good life with my spec. Over 4 hrs if settings are at max power save, 3.5-4hrs if balanced

    @ janik..

yeah those are normal temps. Wasn't something just blocking the vents or something? For battery life the P cpu's would be good indeed but personally i don't mind that much. The only time i use it on battery is at a project site and i very rarely need it more then 2 hours then.
