ok.. i thought my air-intake was pretty hot so i checked with speedfan - and i get 47 idle on my CPU! (Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9400 @ 2.53GHz) is that normal?
Also my GPU is at 52 (FX1770)

Might need a BIOS update or?

    Any help highly appreciated.. :)

For the CPU that's a pretty high idle temp...mine is at 26-30 idle and around 36 in light use. that's a T9600. GPU is normal, mine was always around that when idle before i put AS5 on...now idle at 46c...

btw.. FX 770m or 1700m? pretty sure the FX 1770m doesn't exist ;)

    Oh i think i know it :D

check your taskmanager...one of the IDT processes might be eating up 50% of your CPU...which makes it run that hot. There's a thread about it here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=324049

I saw it last night and it really is random, after just closing the process audio still played so i don't know what it's actually doing. Bit weird

oh yes sorry.. its a FX 1770m :)
hmm i do not have this IDT process,, seems like no app. takes up any high number of CPU usage..

Does the m4400 use 2 fans, one for the CPU and one for the GPU?

If it only uses one fan that would explain the temperatures as the idle temps for my Vostro 1510 are CPU: 55c GPU: 60c but thats because it shares a heatpipe.

Yeah it only uses one fan but that doesn't explain the temps. Mine is the same and runs 20! degrees cooler. CPU idle at around 50c is way too high, even quadcore's sharing the heatsink with CPU don't run that hot and they shouldn't...because they're not doing anything

    @Janik...lol...u sai FX1770m AGAIN!!! :p

and the stacsv.exe won't always use CPU...just sometimes it randomly eats it all up. Is your CPU never below that temp at all?

    Ok...hmm

Check temps again with CPUID HWmonitor (free download) after letting your laptop idle for half an hour. Just close all apps, have dinner and then check temps ;) I don't know how accurate speedfan is but i know HWmonitor is spot-on here.

A06 is crap! For now it's either A09 or one of the older A02 or A03...all can be found here http://ftp1.us.dell.com/bios/
A06 only caused heating when under load though, not really when idle but the other BIOS's are better anyway.

Let me know what the temps are bud
