I wish they'd drop the price on the high-end config or at least make things like the DVD burner standard. While the base config is now $1369 instead of $1469, just upgrading to a T9400 pushes it over the higher-end config's $1499 price.

Ordered mine on 08/30 and it shipped today (09/04). I've already emailed my rep asking for a price adjustment. I told him I would refuse delivery unless I get the price adjustment before DHL shows up tomorrow.

Don't forget, since it's a precision, Dell allows you to try it out and return it (no restock fee and they pay for return shipping) if you don't like it. Might as well give it a "test drive" to see if you really want it and if there are any other configuration changes you might desire.

    M4400:

Last weeks free 19" deal was better than this weeks regular config price drop, since that one gave 2GB ram, better processor (I believe) and something else.

However, the way to get a high-end config for cheap is to call Dell for days, get lucky and/or find the right sales rep. I happened to be lucky enough to experience all 3 :D

Configure one in my sig to dell.com and it shoots above $2000, pfft my m1530 order was $1230, no way was I going to pay $2000 without a good fight.

Just wanted to report that my rep called back and immediately switched me to customer service who made a $ 402 price adjustment on my E6400 due to the recent price drop. Great service.
