Regarding the apparent loss of the SD card slot after the BIOS update, did you look in the BIOS settings to see if it had become disabled by default?

any way to control the fan better, the dell power manager isn't as polished as lenovo power manager. I'd like something like tpfancontrol.

Once upon a time there was I8kfanGUI but Dell changed something which stopped that program working.

The only thing you can do is to repaste the heatsink to try and reduce the CPU temperature, or try mitigating measures such as lowering the maximum CPU power state in power management.

Thanks John I'm getting ready to repaste it. I got a 2nd e7240 to keep at my other place but this one is crazy good as it does -90mv core voltage for 5 days no problems, and runs super cool. So I'm wondering if I should even bother repasting it seeing if it can go lower undervolt and be cooler.

Has anyone tried 2x 1tb msata on the e7240 in RAID mode? Or is this too much heat for too little a space. Also I've never used the dell raid, is it any good in raid 0 or raid 1 mode or is it one of those gimmick RAID configs with not much onboard resources. I want to try raid 0 as I have good daily incremental backups so I can chance it a bit to see how fast I can get this.

Is there a driver to add features to the touchscreen? In win 8.1 the settings under pen and tablet settings there is only an option for double click and press and hold. In WIn7 I thought I had options for flick and scrolling enhancements.

Quick Q if I may please. I have searched for this but to no avail, does the E7240 come with 3 wireless antennas so that you can upgrade the wireless from 2 to 3 band via a DW 1601 card and take advantage of wigig charging etc.

    Thanks

It depends if your machine is WiGig ready, there are two versions of the LCD back cover - WLAN only and WLAN/WWAN/WiGig. Easiest way to verify is by opening the bottom access cover and see if you have any extra antennas.

My E7440 did not ship with WWAN or WiGig but had all five antennas.

Thanks, I will check; it does specify the display as being...12.5" FHD (1920x1080) LED-backlit LCD Touch Panel, WiGig and WWAN Capable.

Anyone tried the new versions of the BIOS vA17?
Is a memory card reader works?

I'm a big believer in if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I only upgrade the BIOS if there's a problem that the BIOS can address.
