The MacBook Pro is a great machine. There is nothing wrong with it. I wanted to change it out for a laptop and a Mac Mini, which I can get for almost the current market value of the MBP (plus the add-ons I put into it already).

Just WHY are we discussing Apple notebooks in here? No cookies for you...:p

Anyway, I just emailed the dimensions of the 9-cell equipped laptop to Waterfield so they can design/recommend a sleeve case for the E6400 & 9-cell battery. They already have the dimensions for the 4 and 6-cell battery E6400 but needed measurements from someone with the 9-cell :D.

I plan on buying a sleeve from them next week, once they confirm the required size.

Greg, sorry if you posted it already. But can you comment on the keyboard quality? John said in his review that his UK keyboard flexes a little.

    Thanks!

Just received my E6400 a few days ago (ordered Saturday, arrived Wednesday!). Apart from the graphics card drivers causing blue screens (since solved with drivers from laptopvideo2go.com), I've been pretty impressed. The keyboard is better than any laptop I've used, although I haven't any experience with business Lenovo's business lineup.

Has anyone any ideas on how to go about using the smart card reader in terms of software? I'd love to figure out a way of using my bank card or something to log on...

And to whoever was asking about the LED screen, it's absolutely outstanding. The brightness in the fairly averagely bright room I'm in is searing at half-max brightness, and the colours are every bit as good as on the Samsung 225BW i have on my desktop (which itself is pretty good). I've actually got the brightness just above minimum right now and it's absolutely fine.

I also have to report that there is some flex in the US keyboard. I do not find it to be enough to be a problem though, as when typing it feels quite solid.

The E6400's keyboard is much improved compared to the D430 or the rest of the Latitude D notebooks. So far anyone I've shown it to as liked the keyboard, including my financee who owns a D820 and before that an Inspiron 9100.

Keys have just the perfect amount of feedback, and not too much travel...not too little travel either. I find myself preferring the E6400's keyboard over all the other keyboards I have, and I've only had the notebook for three or four days.

hmm, I guess this slight keyboard flex thing could be something to do with weight reduction as in the case of the new ThinkPad series.

as long as it's not mushy or there's a bulge somewhere, like most of Dell's consumer line of notebooks, I'll be fine with it.

can't wait to receive the E6400. it's hard to be in a country as I am where Dell doesn't sell directly. But it's okay. The T60 is still in top shape. :)

I'm starting to notice a fair bit of skin oil residue on my E6400's palm rest and keyboard. What's the ideal way to clean this up?
