The M4400 is the same hardware as the Latitude E6400/6500 hardware beside the Nvidia solution.

    Hello folks,

As promised, here is the HWmonitor beta version that includes the E6400. I have already used it for a while and have reached one main conclusion: everything appears to work just fine. I get more temperatures than I'll ever need, fan speed is also there. Yay! :)

Even if you reach the same conclusion, please PLEASE contact the program author at cpuz[at]cpuid.com, I'm sure he will appreciate the feedback, whether it is a bug report or just thanks.

If you use HwMonTray to minimize this to the tray, or to share the values with other programs, I haven't managed to get that to work because of 32-bit / 64-bit problems.

I'd like to thank again the program author for his hard work and allowing me to share this with you all.

    Enjoy! :)

Not sure what I can say here. I added a screenshot below to prove I'm not lying. Have you tried Everest? Does Everest show your fan speeds?

I guess the best I can tell you is to send an email to the program author (see email address in my previous post) with your HWmonitor log (click File --> Save Monitoring Data on the HWmonitor window). Save that as a .txt file and send it to the program author, explaining that this is the beta version he gave me.

My previous E6400 had a loud fan, this one has a much quieter fan. Perhaps Dell uses several manufacturers for their fans (not uncommon), and your fans are different?

I have no idea. From HWmonitor you definitely can't control the fans.
