doing that in a 5000+ person company will do little to sway them :(. we simply have way too many legacy apps here. the tech guy told me they will be updating by the end of the year though.

Ah excellent. As long as a plan is put for an upgrade path, that is good.

maybe that's the reason because I'm not using Dell control on point. I am going to check with the dell unless anybody here knows how to permanently turn it off without using DCP

My guess is they are all the same screen, just different resolutions. So they would fit. Probably.

    Hi,

is there any possibility to activate multitouch on E6400 like two-finger-scroll like in newer models?
I tried the E6410 driver, I can actiavte it but it does not work.
The E6400 touchpad should also support it, because there is an instruction for Ubuntu in the web.

Electrics can buzz. Probably ok as long as not getting hot... or loud.

Don't worry it's all safe, as long as it's not hot.
It's not that Dell used cheap components. If you go any computer enthusiast forum, you can see that this kind of issue is common every day occurrence.
Getting products using solid capacitors and Ferrite Core Chokes solve the problem, at a high price tag, and it doesn't solve circuitry design.
Gigabyte does great effort in that field on all their motherboards, although, they are things that they do anything as it's linked to licensing issues, like Intel power management system for the CPU (just an example).

As most people come from loud noisy computers to quieter and quieter systems, and higher and higher power requirement, this noise issues is increasing. The real solution is have manufactures to start having sound test facilities and work with new circuitry technique, to reduce or eliminate the problem. This will take time, and a big demand for it must exists to related advertisement to it.

I could release a new laptop using the highest quality components and circuitry design to make no noise.. will it sell? Nope.. people will still jump on the 400$ peace of crap at Best Buy.
