I see this is up now with 7600u and intel 620 graphics, it sounds really nice for me coming from 7440, i am more than ready for an upgrade. Can anyone link me to where to order the TB16, I cannot order it with that apparently.... It is worthless to me unless it can support 3 monitors for work.

The Owner's Manual is available, which I always refer to in order to find out more details. However, it's not 100% complete as there are no illustrations of the WWAN card (which I assume occupies the space next to the fan). The manual shows that the bottom has the two long rubber-tipped strips similar to that used on the Precision 5510 and others. I think these give the base greater stiffness and make it a structural part of the computer. The starting weight is impressively low. I wonder what the actual weight will be?

I think that the TB16 dock isn't yet officially available to purchase although Dell have been providing it to disgruntled TB15 owners. There's no indication I can see of whether the notebook will accept power in through the USB-C port.

I'm intrigued by the reference to the "Dell Hybrid Adapter + Power Bank | PH45W17-BA". However, I can't find any other info about this device.

The more I think about this, the less I think I want to stick to the latitude. Seriously what does the latitude give me over the precision 5520/xps 9560 for a little bit wider I can get a graphics card, 97wh battery, beefier CPU, and that infinityedge 15"? Now that the dock connector is gone, the latitude line seems kinda pointless for me.

I think the power adaptor is just their external battery and a 45w adaptor (with usb charging too!) built in, and it's modular.

It says 12,800MAH on the xps13 2-in-1 page for it: "Its 2-in-1 design lets you carry the 45W AC adapter or the 12800 mAh power bank or both modules for uninterrupted power at your desk and on the go." http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/productdetails/xps-13-9365-2-in-1-laptop

More rugged and screen tilts 180drgree

But yeah, with a proper working tb dock and power thru usb typec, the dock connector can say goodbye

I disagree, the legacy dock is actually quite a convenient and valuable piece of equipment IMHO. I for one am not looking forward to the massive backlash at the office, cause everybody likes and uses a dock with the exception of a very few.

In a year or two Thunderbolt should be more mature and the various devices more affordable. At the moment the traditional Dell docks are in abundance and therefore inexpensive.

I would also note that the Thunderbolt implementation on the Dell Skylake notebooks and plugging anything (even an unconnected LAN dongle) into a USB-C socket triggers an additional power drain of 2.5 to 3W and the fans on my Precision 5510 wake up (and therefore TB devices will seriously hit the battery time under light usage conditions. There's a need for some serious power management work and I don't know if this has been done on the Kaby Lake refresh.

    Just ordered the TB16 today:

Moving away from the e-port dock is going to be a pain for all my users, but I knew this move was going to happen sooner or later. I debated abandoning the latitude line altogether and going Precision 5520 or even the new XPS15, but neither one offers a WWAN card... so latitude it is

As soon I can configure one (built your own) I will order and post some photos.

Actually, TB for us was a big usability issue. Apparently, plugging in a small cable into a rather stiff port was "too annoying", where as the traditional dock was much easier since all you gotta do is set the notebook down and press. Plus there's the giant button to release.

I foresee this at our company too, I will be the first one to try it and see if I should stick with the 7470 for as long as I can, or bite the bullet and deploy the TB16s and 7480s.

Either way, bummed that there is no wwan port on the Precision 5520. Ive been playing with a XPS13 all day today, and that bezel-less screen is the future.

Well, the edock (spacer taking up unnecessary space) and potential fragility of the dock connector (if user doesn't support the back when lifting it out of the port) are potential issues too

If (it's a big if) the typeC docks work properly, IT no longer has to buy new docks every 10(?) year cycle. IT will just hear complains when users upgrade laptops where the typeC port switches from left to right/rear...
