Does anyone experience high temp on the top half bottom of the laptop? I have replaced the heat sink once and it is still very hot. It is like 97 all the time. I have owned D610, D620, E6400, E6420 and this one is the worst. My friend owns Lenovo Ultrabook and they run cool. Normally, Dell run a bit hotter than others, but E6430U was beyond just that. I am thinking of selling it and get Lenovo instead.

There's something definitely wrong there. Mine is idling at around 60C. If you open the Task Manager, do you have anything that pins the CPU at 100%, or even at a lower constant rate?

I installed windows 8.1 to my system.
I noticed there's a ssd firmware update for lmt-256m6m which is mine ssd under windows 8 64 on dell.
Can I use it in win8.1?
Also, the version of the firmware update is DM8110C, and my current firmware is DM8110D. Anyone know which is more current version?

I eventually solved this by installing a new display driver from the manufacturer, not dell. You have to completely remove the old driver first for it to work. It's fine now

The manufacturer for the machine is Dell, or did you mean chipset supplier i.e. Intel? I'm confused.....
I'd love to solve this issue, but as of now I am using a Dell Latitude e6320 which is a nice machine with a proper e-series docking connector.

Is the LCD on this replaceable from the low res to 1600x900 aftermarket?

Eh? The display is 1600x900. Did you mean replaceable with a higher resolution then the 1600x900? If so then no one has documented anything to date, which is not surprising given the low sales numbers this machine appears to have achieved, if the chirping of the crickets in this thread is any indication....

    I meant from the 1366 x 768 model to the 900p model.

Going from the standard 768p to the 900p display should be a relatively simple swap. They use the same LED technology, it's just a matter of finding the 900p display and how expensive it is.
