Just got my E6400 from Outlet, few problems

    By shutting off, do you mean going to standby? There are two settings, one for battery operation and the other for AC operation. Are you sure that those are set up correctly.

    By the way, it is normal to have the HG circle. It is on mine, too.

    It goes through the whole boot up cycle when I turn it back on. From my experience, if something is on standby it will boot up very fast and resume where you left off.

    Depends on whether it goes into hibernation or not. It takes much longer to come out of hibernation, but you go back to the exact state of the laptop before hibernation.

    It wasn't going into hibernation. And I put the thing in standby today to see how it boots up and it wasn't that either. I'm pretty sure it just shut itself off.
