I tried the next model up with windows 10 support and it says (just like any subsequent models) that the device has no updates which is weird.

Oh wow, I've never heard of that, that's great!

Did you find this using the driver identifier?! Is there any way to get the 64 bit version of that?

Well it is for the E6410 - I assumed that it uses the same trackpad as the E6400

Did you try running Driver Identifier on your system?

It says "this app can't run on this PC."

I did, it doesnt find any drivers needing updating, including the touchpad. :/ In addition, the screen doesn't get bright enough. This really sucks...looks like I'll have to roll back to Win7.

Finally managed to get the touchpad to work! Had to download the win 7 version and install it via the device manager. Now, just to figure out how to get brightness up. It's maybe 50% as bright as before on max brightness. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the intel video driver, but that and any other intel drivers i try to install say my computer doesnt meet the minimum standards for it lol.

Glad you got the touchpad to work; I found the E6500 OK with the default Windows 10 driver, but I mostly use the pointing stick.

For the brightness, check the advanced power settings to see if Windows turned "adaptiver brightness" on by default.

Also check to see if there are brightness settings in the BIOS, those may override if the brightness setting from the driver is not working.

I'd also recommend uninstalling the audio drivers and software that Win 10 installs by default. On my E6400, the sound was absolutely terrible after upgrading. I had to manually choose another driver (i think it was called High definition audio device) to install from the device manager and sound was as good as in Win 7.
