how long is a 9cell supposed to last?

    2 or 3 FULL cycles is enough.

    Install RMclock if you want additional info on your battery, like health and capacity.

    Also make sure your Dell is in energy saving profile and dim the display a bit.

    Yeah, what is your config? Those numbers sound right if it has the nVidia card.

    I have a D820 with two and half year 9 cell, and in performance mode doing CAD application it last between 2.5 to 3 hours

    I don't know batterymon, but if tells you health, charged capacity, designed capacity, discharge rate it's propably similar.
