I just received my e6400, and it is now charging the battery. The ac power adapter is very very hot, is that normal? Should I ask them to change one for me?
    thank you guys,

Let's put it this way. If you're burning your hand on it, it's too hot and there's something wrong with it. If it just feels very hot to the touch (mine often does) there's no problem.

Thanks for the reply, is your adapter often or always very hot? The tempreture is much higher than my previous HP. I'm affraid of that it will cause fire when I put it on my carpet.
    thank you.

If it got hot enough to set fire to carpet it would probably melt the cables before.

It depends what I'm doing. I don't feel my power adapter that often when it's plugged in (it's under my desk), but it does vary. I feel like if I'm charging and using the computer (with something intensive) then it heats up quite a bit. Right now, I'm running a stress test so the CPU is at 100%, but the battery is taken out and the adapter is only mildly hot.

I put a regular therometer on it's surface, and temp shows 106 degree. Do you guys think it's normal? Maybe the question a little bit stupid, but my T400 is much cooler than it.
    thank you all.

That sounds like something I'd get with the situation described above (charging and using). It's possible that the adapter for the E6400 just isn't as efficient.

If it's 106F, it sounds fine.

    that's normal....
if the batt is charginig, the adapter tends to heat up
but once the batt level reaches 100% ; the adapter's heat lessen

another factor is your current -
here in manila, more often than not, our 220V is always at 230-240V -reason for the heat of the adapter. what i do is plug it at 110V.... the heat is lessen

Yeah, the adaptor can get quite hot when charging and using the computer at the same time, it's normal and will only get that hot when charging and using the computer.
