Hi! I'm a desperate owner of D620, yes.... desperately trying to control the fan speed. I've tried i8kfangui31 but still no luck. Then I run the diagnostic software from Dell Support website, the result of the processor on/off test is error code 3700:011B -> my fan failed to slow down to 2500rpm. the fan keeps running at high speed (about 4500rpm). my bios is A10.

anybody have this problem? any solution?

    tx in advance.

no I haven't try that. but I don't think it's gonna help, because the fan is not jammed, or running too slow. it just won't slow down. I think it's something to do with the way the fan is controlled, maybe the version of the bios. but my bios version is already the latest. or do think there's any possibility that the fan is not dell standard fan, so it can't be controlled the way it should be? because this is a used laptop that I bought.

Fans normally work harder the more the dust collects in your system because they're less effective.

I had this issue with the fan. I opened it up, bought a compressed air can to blast the crap out. Cleaned the fan. The problem was resolved, it's worth trying if the laptop isn't new.

Just curious how it is not under warranty since the D620 was released in March of '06 and they all had three year warranties? Wouldn't the warranty be valid until '09?

I tried cleaning up the fan but no help. I just found an article about bad Nvidia GPU that force the laptop manufacture to revise their bios to force the fan run high speed all the time, maybe it got something to do with this.

    www .theinquirer .net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/07/09/nvidia-g84-g86-bad

then I tried to roll-back my bios version down to A6 (who knows it might help) but still no luck.

I bought the laptop second handed, and I checked the service tag over dell's website and the warranty period is over.
